Ipomoea batatas is a perennial species, grown as an annual in unprotected conditions. In this paper, the behavior of four cultivars of I. batatas ('Rusty Red', 'Midnight Lace', 'Light Green' and 'Purple Hearts'), cultivated in the experimental field of the discipline of Floriculture at the Iasi University of Life Sciences, Romania, was evaluated. Observations and determinations made after 35 days of establishment of cultures revealed differences between cultivars in terms of number of leaves/plant, shoots length and leaf size. In recent years, studies and research have begun to be done on leaves, as it is known that in the area of origin, some local populations used as vegetables. The aim of the research is to evaluate the effect of fertilization and irrigation on the growth and development of two quinoa varieties (Vikinga and Puno), in order to introduce them on the Romanian economic market. The experience was organized in vegetation pots, in 42 variants, in the greenhouse. The obtained results show that the species is suitable for cultivation in protected areas, under the influence of factors: variety, fertilization and irrigation. The highest amount of leafy mass was obtained by Vikinga variety under biological fertilization irrigated with 75% of water from soil capacity (SC) positively correlated with the leaf area and the number of leaves. The transition from vegetative phase to generative one requires vernalization in terms of bolting and flowering. Vernalization is a physiological process that converts vegetative meristem tissue to reproductive tissue. It is a natural adaptation that ensures flowering happens only after the exposure to low positive temperatures for an extended period of time, allowing flowers and seeds to mature under normal conditions. This database will be used to optimize the zonation of vine varieties for the expansion of the viticultural areas and the replanting of existing ones. In order to establish the ecoclimatic potential for the viticultural areas, climatic factors for vine culture were analyzed and categorized within favorability classes. The treatments were carried out with two organic vine fertilization products, applied in three concentrations 'Ecklomar'® (3.5 L/ha-V1, 4.5 L/ha-V2, 5.5 L/ha -V3) and 'Kaishi'® (2.5 L/ha-V1, 3.5 L/ha-V2, 4.5 L/ha-V3) in different growth phenophases. The viticulture sector, being developed in Bourgogne since ancient times, has attracted the attention of many scholars and artists. One of them was the great Pasteur, whose Museum-House is located in the small town of Arbois, a large wine-growing center. Throughout the summer and autumn of 2022, under the auspices of the Academy of Sciences and the “Terre de Louis Pasteur” cultural team, events, symposia, festivals, and meetings with scientists are organized to commemorate the bicentennial jubilee. Admirable are the places where the future scientist lived, the local church, the house where he went to school and the laboratory of the great French microbiologist Louis Pasteur (27.12.1822–28.09.1895). Born near Dole (70 km North), his parents bought (in 1830) a four-level house right on the banks of the Cuisance river, where on the 1st and 2nd floors were his residence, the upper 3rd and 4th floors were intended for science. To be solved: simplification of the scheme and the creation of the universal technological line for juice - wine with increased hygienic properties and reduced expenses. The whole grapes received in the bunker-press are treated with 0.2% SO2 solution, hot 550C for 15 minutes, which can be recovered for other batches of raw material. The decontaminated grapes are thermally treated (selectively the skin) for 10-20 minutes with hot must +60-850C, followed by the first cycle of hydraulic (pneumatic) pressing with the separation of the pigmented dietary red must and storage. The rest of the mass in the bunker-press is dosed with potassium pyrosulfite together, dihydroxyfumaric acid and with hot must +600C for 10 minutes for the final extraction: anthocyanin - SBA, cooling it to +250C, pressing the second with the selection of the must fraction and fermentation to make red wine.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Research on the pathogenicity of autochthonous entomopathogenic fungi in Trialeurodes vaporariorum Westwood(Editura ”Ion Ionescu de la Brad” Iasi, 2022) Dinu, Mihaela-Monica; Fătu, Ana-Cristina; Băbeanu, NarcisaTrialeurodes vaporariorum Westwood (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) belongs to whitefly species that cause significant damage to crops in protected areas and fields in Romania. Biological control with parasitoids and entomopathogenic fungi is an important alternative for the management of this pest. The susceptibility of the fourth larval stage of T. vaporariorum to 3 different strains of Beauveria sp. (Bals.) Vuill. and one strain of Metarhizium anisopliae (Metsch.) Sorok., isolated from natural outbreaks in Romania, was assessed. Conidial suspensions containing 107CFU/mL were applied directly on old nymphal stages of T. vaporariorum using a fine droplet spray nozzle, in a laboratory trial. Hypericaceae) is an exotic shrub, originated from China, widely cultivated in gardens in temperate regions as ornamental, for its large, golden yellow flowers and thick, green, deciduous or persistent foliage. Similar to Hypericum perforatum (common St. John’s wort), which is a well-known valuable herbal drug, some other Hypericum species also have some unusual internal secretory structures that produce and accumulate many bioactive compunds, thought to have evolved as a plant response to herbivore attack. In the present study the optic microscopy images of Hypericum patulum leaves, flowers and stem show: black nodules (spheroidal dark glands) which are glands that produce and accumulate a granular red to black colored pigment (hypericin) – they were seen in sepals and stem; pedunculate black nodules (glandular emergences) were seen on the margin of the sepals; secretory cavities (spheroidal pale glands or translucent glands) that are almost spherical or a bit elongated found in leaves and sepals, they have a cavity that is bordered by secretory cells that produce oils that diffuse through the cell wall and accumulates within the cavity, they are considered to produce hyperforin and essential oils; secretory canals with large lumen, that are long, tubular structures found in leaves mixed with translucent glands which have the same structure and origin.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , The importance of green areas in everyday life in the view of first-year students at the Faculty of Food and Animal Sciences(Editura ”Ion Ionescu de la Brad” Iasi, 2022) Chiruță, Ciprian; Sonea, Andromeda-Cristina; Cojocariu, MirelaThe fast pace of development of cities in the last decades has led to an increase in the degree of pollution and implicitly to a lower urban comfort. A viable option to slow down the negative effects of urbanization is to reintroduce green areas to cities. For this approach to be successful, it is important for the young generation to be aware of the benefits of natural and landscaped green spaces in everyday life. A questionnaire about green areas was applied to 88 students from the Faculty of Animal and Food Resources Engineering, to assess their opinion on how green areas, in different forms, can make life healthier and more beautiful. The sample was composed of 62 female and 26 male students who had to answer 15 questions in the questionnaire. Regarding the results of the survey, the presence of parks near home or workplace is highly appreciated by 57% of the respondents and there is an increase in interest among students towards new methods of expanding green spaces, they consider green facades attractive (18%), balconies decorated with plants (15%) and green roofs (11%).listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Optimization and modeling of Cr (VI) biosorption from aqueous solution on biosorbent - Sarkanda grass lignin(Editura ”Ion Ionescu de la Brad” Iasi, 2022) Ungureanu, Elena; Chelariu, Elena-Liliana; Tofănică, B.I.; Popa, Valentin I.; Jităreanu, Carmenica-DoinaThe negativ impact induced by the presence of heavy metals in the environment and on the health of living organisms is accentuated by their long-term persistence, as a result of their low solubility and mobility and in close connection with the sorption and complexation processes. In this study, the bioadsorption of Cr (VI) from aqueous solution onto unmodified Sarkanda Grass lignin was analyzed. Cr (VI) retention was tested at different experimental parameters (pH of initial solution and biosorbent, biosorbent dosage, aqueous solution concentration and contact time), in order to obtain optimal experimental conditions. The experimental results have been interpreted using the classic Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms models, as well as two kinetic models (the Lagergren pseudo-first order and the Ho-McKay pseudo-second order models). Dimethyl 2-butenoate is a symmetricall substitued alkene, with two isomeric structures: cis (dimethyl maleate) and trans (dimethyl maleate). By the addition reaction of dimethyl 2-butenoate to pyridazine salts, pyridazine isomeric derivatives are obtained. The existence of isomeric structures was proven spectrally. The biological effect of pyridazine isomers was analyzed, through tests, carried out in special chambers with controlled temperature. Three varieties with green pods (Cape, Valja and Atlantic), one variety with yellow pods (Galbena de Moldova) and two local populations with pods green, collected from local growers near the city of Iași. At a preliminary multiplication of the seeds and testing of the culinary value of the pods, it was observed that the pods have a culinary value appreciated by consumers, and in the field a rather pronounced variability of some quantitative characters was externalized. Testing the behavior of new tomato hybrids is an activity preceding their cultivation on a larger scale. For this purpose, in 2020, an experiment was carried out in the greenhouse, with five new tomato hybrids, where the following aspects were evaluated: the dynamics of plant height and the number of leaves per plant at 60, 90 and 120 days from planting, average fruit weight and number of fruits per plant, as well as average production per unit area, both by harvest stage and in total. The final results, expressed by the total fruit production per hectare were very good and without significant differences compared to the control (experience average), except for one hybrid, where the fruit production in the second stage of harvesting was very significantly lower compared compared to of the control variant.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Collecting and assessment of genetic diversity conserved on farm in Republic of Moldova(Editura ”Ion Ionescu de la Brad” Iasi, 2022) Batîr Rusu, Diana; Mîrzan, OanaThe need to collect plant genetic resources of some crops with importance in a healthy nutrition of the population is of major interest to our institution. The link between agriculture and food security is vital and of strategic importance to any country. In this equation, access and use of a rich genetic background, with known properties, is a condition, almost mandatory, which will allow a quick adaptation to the changes and trends that appear in the agro-food sector. Within this collecting mission, 15 rural communities, with a certain degree of isolation along the Prut River were explored, diversified from the pedoclimatic, altitudinal and agricultural systems point of view. It were targeted individual households of farmers with limited financial resources, who practice a low input agriculture. It were identified traditional varieties of vegetables and it were collected 116 local varieties, comprising 30 species, which will be able to be used in breeding programs or direct cultivation by farmers.All these local landraces with a great genetic variability were collected from local farmers, who prefer and grow them in their gardens due to the multiple uses in food and the adaptation to biotic and abiotic stress factors, in the context of current climate changes.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Research on the potential of increasing the number of fruits and the quantity of seeds in eggplant using flowering stimulators(Editura ”Ion Ionescu de la Brad” Iasi, 2022) Constantin Dascălu, Delia-Cristina; Munteanu, Neculai; Scurtu, I.; Buzatu, Mihaela-AlinaThe objective of this paper is to evaluate the potential of some flowering stimulators to improve the quantity of eggplant fruits, but also the quantity of seeds, if the purpose of the culture is the seed production. There were used two varieties of Romanian eggplant, Luiza and Belona, which were treated with four flowering stimulators. The quantity of fruits that reached physiological maturity per plant and per hectare, the weight of fruits per hectare and the weight of seeds per hectare were measured. Some flowering stimulators used for treatments significantly improved fruit yield and seed quantity.
