A wide range of methods exists currently for measuring soil hydraulic parameters. Using mathematics models to solve problems that involves transport and flow processes it became very important. Soil hydraulic functions can be directly measured, or they can be estimated indirectly more easier using soil data, such as texture and bulk density. This methods have an important role in understanding transport processes happening in soils. Models of this kind can be named pedotransfer functions. This pedotransfer functions have been developed over time. Pedotransfer functions estimates indirectly some soil attributes and they are known from the beginning of modern soil science. By applying this we can conclude some of the soil properties based on some other properties, more easily to find and with lower costs. Rosetta program can estimate many properties as: water retention parameters according to van Genuchten(1980), saturated hydraulic conductivity and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity parameters according to van Genuchten (1980) and Mualem (1976). Rosetta have five pedotransfer functions that allows us to predict hydraulic properties. The hierarchical approach has a great importance because it permits optimal use of available input data. In this context, this paper presents some characteristics of the program. Also the program Rosetta is used to determine hydraulic properties for one type of soil. This properties were used later in a modeling program.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Agrifood sector place in the European Union foreign trade(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Țimiraș, Laura-Cătălina; Zaiț, Luminița; Nichifor, BogdanAccording to EUROSTAT data (aggregated across all 27 states, regardless of when they joined), the European Union's foreign trade in the period 2000 to 2011 have a positive trend, the value of imports increasing by 70% and exports by 80.3%. In 2011, the values for foreign trade transactions amounted to 1687732 million in imports, respectively, 1531929 million exports, resulting thus a negative foreign trade balance. Agricultural sector contributed during that period with a share of over 5% to the trade outside the EU. The weights on total external transactions of food, drinks and tobacco transactions were 5.8% for exports and 5.4% for imports in 2011, the foreign trade balance for this category being negative. During that period (2000 - 2011), transactions with food, drinks and tobacco in the EU with other countries of the world have joined the general trend of development of foreign trade, growth being 86.3% for exports and respectively, 66.1% for imports. In the same time the share of food, drinks and tobacco grew in total EU exports, easing its total imports, while diminishing the negative balance of trade for this product group. In the total exports of food, drinks and tobacco, beverages have the largest share (about 24% in 2010), U.S.A. representing in this regard the most important market for the EU, while the vegetables and fruits have the highest rate in total imports (25.7%). Among EU countries that have the greatest contribution to the achievement of foreign trade with food, drinks and tobacco are: Germany, Netherlands, France and United Kingdom, the same countries achieving a significant share of total EU external trade transactions.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Evolution of organic agriculture - a response to European consumer requirements(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Țimiraș, Laura-Cătălina; Nichifor, Bogdan; Zaiț, LuminițaSignificantly increasing trend in the food markets, regarding the diversification of consumer needs, their orientation to natural products, with potential health benefits, environmental "friendly", has made its mark on the organic products market trends and on the development of ecological agriculture (organic). According to data provided by Research Institute of Organic Agriculture and Eurostat we can see that sales of organic food products in recent years have been increasing in almost all European countries. Closely related to demand manifested in the market, organic farming showed a comparable growth perhaps similar to the sectors characterized by high dynamism. Thus, over the 10 years (from 2001 to 2010), in some EU countries, organic crop area grew strongly, sometimes over 100%, increasing their share in total agricultural land. Similarly, the number of animals kept in compliance with the specific practices of organic production has seen a positive development in most EU countries. For most analyzed indicators, the most dramatic changes were recorded in the new EU countries, where increasing consumer demands for safety and food security has manifested much later, and organic foods markets is in its infancy, with great growth potential (compared to the situation of the old EU markets, where organic products markets are more mature, with decreased growth potential). This is confirmed by ecological food products purchases per capita recorded in the new EU countries (in most cases in 2010 equaled to less than 10 Euro / person), which are well below those recorded in the old EU countries (with values above 100 Euro / person recorded in some countries in the same year).listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , CVE – corporate volunteering(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Petrescu, Lucia; Colibaba, Lucia-Cintia; Vlad, MonicaThe CVE aims to contribute to secondary students’ personal and professional development. Indentifying those affordances of the online support that can best address the target group and customising them to fit the learning needs are main aspects that are being looked into by the developers and promoters of the two European projects. ISPY platform enables learners to interact with a new language via flash materials based on role-play and problem solving. Activities on the ISPY Moodle platform include formal and informal contexts presenting students with numerous opportunities to understand and practise the language they study. MyStory project aims at creating a link between generations by valorizing and putting to good use the knowledge and experience of representatives from the two main categories addressed - seniors and young people.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Aspects regarding the application of sustainable society index in Romania(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Păvăloaia, LeontinaAny comprehensive understanding of sustainable development and proper quantification of its different components requires an accurate information system developed especially for this field. Development trends monitoring relying on indicators that are stranger to business activities precede sustainable development principles formulation and have grown together with the sustainable development strategy definition process. The development of a worldwide accepted system of indicators able to allow SD monitoring is a preoccupation of the utmost importance. Therefore, an increasing number of international bodies, institutes, companies, governments, NGOs, etc. have developed indicators able to provide a full sustainable development image. The high number of examples supports the need to rely on such monitoring tools, which cover a diversified range of applications and help overcome some methodological drawbacks. The main indices already developed have been analyzed in search of an adequate set of indicators able to measure a country’s sustainability level, yet they were found not to fully meet the needs. The main deficiencies are related to the high number of sustainability definitions and to the lack of occasional updates. That is why the Sustainable Society Index (SSI), developed by the Sustainable Society Foundation (SSF), was considered, knowing that it reunites the most important aspects related to sustainability and quality of life in a simple and transparent manner. The set includes 24 indicators divided into 8 sub-categories. The SSF determined the SSI based on data provided by scientific bodies and international organizations from 151 countries. This index enables specialists to conduct fast comparisons among different countries and to follow the evolution of each country in time. Starting with 2006, the SSF determines this index once every two years. Our research aims to describe the calculation methodology and to analyze the evolution of this index as far as Romania is concerned. Also, we will include a European classification focusing on Romania’s rank as compared to the other EU countrieslistelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , The influence of green certificate system over the electrical energy market(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Păvăloaia, LeontinaElectricity market liberalization determined specific competition which may lead to irreversible environmental degradation if environmental costs insourcing fails. Therefore, the creation of an internal electricity market was supported by legal requirements and standards passed at European level designed to integrate environmental issues into market mechanisms. Thus, we witnessed the passing of regulations promoting “clean” electricity production, which used renewable energy sources. Green certificates are issued for this type of energy, which entitle producers to sell them to suppliers that do not reach the set quota in their own production process. The main purpose of these certificates is to stimulate green energy production, whereas the green certificate transaction system focuses on two aspects. Firstly, it checks whether demand is met or, when there is no demand, it measures the amount of electricity coming from renewable sources. Secondly, it enhances trade by creating a specific market where green certificates are sold and bought and which functions in parallel with the traditional electricity market. The goal of the European Union is that by 2020 20% of the energy consumption in the EC countries be provided by renewable sources. Thus, the EU countries implemented a set of measures meant to encourage investment in renewable energy sources. In Romania, the renewable sources energy promotion system applies to electricity generated by wind energy, solar energy, geothermal energy, biomass, waste and wastewater treatment sludge fermentation gas, as well as electricity produced by hydroelectric power plants with generating station capacity below 10 MW. Our research dwells on an analysis of the Romanian transaction system of marketable green certificates and on the way these transactions are recorded in the annual books of accounts.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Analysis of relief Iasi city and urban environment quality, using GIS techniques(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Oiște, Ana-Maria; Breabăn, Iuliana-GabrielaThe local variation of terrain properties causes profound changes in urban environment, influencing urban planning due to the restrictions imposed by the suitability of the terrains for a specific type of use (buildings, roads, green spaces location). With the dawn of computerized technology, the terrain is currently represented in a digital form only for large areas and new methods are needed to effectively describe, evaluate and quantify terrain properties, due to the terrain characteristics have an enormous impact on the natural environment and socio-economic activities. Taking into account that our town is located in an hilly area, the present study analyzes six morphometric parameters like: DEM, slope, aspect, hillshade, drainage density and depth and landslides areas for a better understanding of how urban terrain geomorphology influence some land uses, especially for buildings expanding in geomorphologic unfavorable areas (slopes over 18 degrees), using topographical plans,1964 edition. Digital terrain data obtained from this analysis can be correlated with other spatial information in order to determine the influence of both land ecosystem properties with other variables, as well as better implementation in urban planning.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Scarcity and adaptive behavior(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Mursa, Gabriel-ClaudiuThe scarcity is one of the fundamental features of life in the universe. The resources for survival were, are and always will be scarce. Therefore, all creatures had to adapt to this situation. The fundamental purpose of this article is to demonstrate that over time all living organisms went through a severe and selective adaptation to the rarity. The main tool for fighting rarity was the adoption of the economic behavior. This type of behavior is widespread in the animal world. The long process of natural selection and the survival instinct had made possible that all creatures possess the ability to adapt to the limited amount of resources. In the absence of developed intelligence, the animals have adopted a conduct adaptate to scarcity by a ritualized behavior and, to a lesser extent, by learning. Unlike animals, the humans have reacted against the rarity with their exceptional comparative advantage, that is, an unusual development of the brain. Thus, they were able to adjust the volume of resources limited by the limited understanding of cause-effect relationships. Over the time, the humans have learned that the their reaction against scarcity must be the reflection and the sober behavior. The greatest difference between humans and other living organisms is that the humans have the ability to fight scarcity with conducts transmitted by cultural way. The exceptional brain development and the learning ability are the most important human weapons against scarcity. Unlike the biological adaptation, the cultural adaptation allows to purchase and send a huge amount of knowledge from one generation to another, which is impossible on the way biological selection. Therefore, the human behavior is much better adapted to scarcity than the animal behavior.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , The social phenomena and the utility of macroeconomic models(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Mursa, Gabriel-ClaudiuThe purpose of this article is to demonstrate that the usefulness of econometric models is quite limited in the field of social sciences, particularly in economic science. From Walras to our days, the economists imagine that macroeconomic models can be built to serve as a decisional basis for economic policy. The social phenomena are characterized by complexity and continuous change. The contemporary human societies are composed by a lot of people. The direct or indirect contacts between individuals, possible by means of rapid communication, generate a complex and fluid social order. The complexity and the fluidity of social order prevents the economic system representation in the form of macroeconomic models. The main problem of such models is that they contain an excessive number of variables. The huge amount of knowledge generated by the relations between individuals cannot be structured in a systematic manner. Therefore, it can not be taken into account, modeled and introduced into macroeconomic models. They would be helpful if there were the possibility of obtaining, processing and use real-time knowledge of the entire volume generated by the social order. But this is impossible for two reasons. First, the human knowledge is manifested in time and space, it is dissipated among members of the social order. The costs of concentrate it are impossible to cover. Second, the human knowledge is essentially subjective, unspeakable and non-transferable. For these reasons, the macroeconomic models can only be an oversimplification of reality. Basically, they cannot be used to make predictions. In the best case, can help to realize qualitative predictions, but not a quantitative ones.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Exploratory study of the analysis of the performance of stock exchange quoted companies, per activity fields(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Mironiuc, Marilena; Robu, Mihaela-Alina; Robu, Ioan-Bogdan; Carp Cărare, MihaiIn order to support strategic decisions, current and potential investors as well as managers need pertinent information that would reflect a faithful image concerning the financial position and performance of the companies. In their analysis and evaluation, besides financial factors, it is necessary to consider non-financial factors as well. Therefore, the specificity of the activity fields of the companies influence a series of financial indicators, determining different results concerning their performance. The present study aims to analyze the financial performance according to the activity field (agriculture, industry, commerce, and services), quantified by criteria based on traditional financial indicators, respectively stock exchange criteria for the acknowledgement of the global performance by the participants to the capital market. The study also aims identify a performance profile of the companies, according to their activity field and to the performance criteria considered. The target population is represented by companies quoted in the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE). From it, a random sample was extracted of 100 quoted companies, activating in the field of agriculture, industry, commerce, and services, for the fiscal year 2011. The results of the research were obtained after applying the univariate analysis and the multiple correspondences factor analysis, using the SPSS 19.0 statistic software. The results show the existence of differences in what concerns the indicators of financial performance on activity fields. The characteristics of each activity field, as well as the risks corresponding to each of them, influence the traditional indicators, as well as the stock exchange indicators. Each field is characterized by certain performance indicators. Based on the results obtained through the performance profile of the companies according to their activity field, actual and potential investors, as well as the other categories of stakeholders, can make decisions without a complete fundamental analysis. Although the results are a useful means for the stakeholders, they must also take into account the limitations of the current study, which are determined by the degree of representativeness of the sample, respectively by the small number of companies in each of the four activity fields, quoted on the Romanian capital market. As a result of these limitations, future research directions concern the increase of the number of studied companies, by extending the analyzed period and taking into consideration other performance criteria as well, such as those focused on value creation, or related to the cash flow.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Empirical study on the solutions for rendering the activities of the Romanian agricultural companies more effective(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Mironiuc, Marilena; Carp Cărare, Mihai; Robu, Ioan-Bogdan; Robu, Mihaela-AlinaThe characteristics of the current economic environment, where the fight for profit becomes harsher by the day, determine the autochthonous agricultural companies to face significant pressures, generated by the global food market. This is the effect of the compromises made in accepting, both at the level of international legislation and at the level of the final consumer, of synthetic products and genetically modified cultures. Also, the strong specialization completed by the technological and technical “flexibility” of the international companies imposes on Romanian organizations competitive restrictions concerning the sale prices of the products. In this context, a dynamic adaptation of the business plans is necessary, as the competitive market does not allow any deviation from the correct dimensioning of the resources invested into the activity, from the cautious management of the operational activity or the optimum level of work productivity. The present study aims, based on a sample of 40 BSE quoted companies, to analyze the extent to which organizational performance is determined by the volume of the investments, by the size of the stocks, by the degree of integration of the economic cycle, and by the level of work productivity. The specificity of the activity is taken into account in the analysis, as it decisively influences the considered factors. The results of the study reveal a positive association of the degree of integration of the economic cycle with the net profit, while a high weight of the stocks in the total assets determines a decrease in it. Higher productive investments, together with an increase in work effectiveness, imply achieving superior economic benefits. In order to obtain the results of the research, the following tools have been used: the ratio analysis, the multiple correspondences factor analysis, and the multiple linear regression analysis with category variables (ANCOVA). The data were processed using SPSS 19.0 statistic software.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Methods mathematical proof. Deductive method(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Lupu, CosticăThe article presents the deductive method of demonstration followed by some representative examples. If in Mathematics we can choose the best demonstration when we teach it we have to adapt ourselves to the most convenient variants. We analyse problems of convergeney of the following straight line important in tetrahedron, the median line(the segment which unifies the vertex with the centre of the opponent face) the trimedians (a segment which unifies the middle of the two opponent margins) the perpendicular raised on the faces of the tetrahedron in the circumscribed centers. Hypotheses and conclusions, causes, effects, motivations and justifications, extrapolations and generalizations are given in all the domains of human activity. The chain of implication is sure too: form A results B, from B results C and so on and it is true too that the causal effect is not uniquely determined. Having the conclusion of the theorem stated that the chain receives a direction from the hypothesis to conclusion eliminating the significances. The utility of the article is by the great member of adequate examples from the method of teaching Maths problems and the teaching practice examples which offer the undergraduates-a helping hand in their formation.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Agriculture in Dobrogea from Ion Ionescu de la Brad until the European Integration. Historical highlights(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Lup, Aurel; Chirilă, ConstantinThe paper is a historical retrospective marking the main steps taken in agriculture in Dobrogea from 1850 until present time. The authors will stop on the most representative landmarks, starting with the year 1850,as described by Ion Ionescu de la Brad in ‘’Agricultural fieldtrip to Dobrogea’’. This is how they are described in chronological order: The status of agriculture and rural areas in 1850 Dobrogea under Ottoman rule; Agriculture in Dobrogea after the inclusion in the Romanian administration in 1878; Agriculture in Dobrogea during the interwar period; Agriculture in Dobrogea during the communist totalitarian regime 1945-1989; Transition to the market economy 1990-2010. Taken into analysis: agricultural system, technical and economic performances, demographic evolution in rural Dobrogea.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Heat systems of the glass house(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Luca, Mihail; Luca, Alexandru-LucianThis paper deals with a series of problems regarding analysis, evaluation and improvement of the performance of heat installation of the complex functional glass house. Design and execution of this type of constructions must take into account a number of important factors for providing thermal comfort. Due to their architectural structure, constructive and functional, glass house impose some conditions for an optimal and economic system for heating and air - conditioning. A statistical approach(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Jitea, Ionel-Mugurel; Dumitraș, Diana-Elena; Merce, Cristian-Călin; Arion, Felix-HorațiuThe paper investigates the evolution of the Romanian farming structures after Romanian’s accession to the European Union. It was the moment of the Common Agriculture Policy implementation in Romania. The research methodology uses appropriate techniques applied in social sciences research, as the chain-index indicators or the trend analysis. In the same time a special indicator that measures the gap between the Romanian farming structures and the European ones was also employed. The analysed data came from different official statistical databases. Results reveal that even after three years of Common Agriculture Payments implementation, Romania still presents two types of farming structures. That of the single-holder-farming can be characterised as being land fragmentised, totally different as compared to the European model. In the last years there was revealed a slight trend of farm structures improvements, but the gap between the Romanian structures and the European ones is very important. The legal-entity farming sectors structure is comparable with the European ones, agriculture policies producing an important trend of farm structures restructuration.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Rural tourism promotion analysis by county road travel Suceava(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Hontuș, Adelaida-CristinaSuceava County has a great potential in terms of tourism. There are unique landscapes and attractions represented by museums, churches, monasteries, churches, geological, fortresses, memorial and not least the events of the year (festivals, days of the city). I think this county could be better observed by tourism marketing activity that is a source of economic development at district level. Attracting tourists here would be done in any season because of the natural and cultural monuments existing. Promotion is very important for attracting new tourists. Thus, better promotion of Suceava county would be helpful. Images of the main tourist attractions in the area would not be missing from different magazines. Lack of concrete projects, privatization late in tourism, there are low quality services at relatively high prices, lack of tourist information tools and adequate infrastructure leading to Suceava County has a tourism potential insufficiently explored.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Tourist traffic analysis in house "Sunshine" from the Breaza Prahova(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2012) Hontuș, Adelaida-CristinaBreaza resort, gateway to the scenic Prahova Valley, is located on the coordinates of 25 ° 40 'east longitude and 45 ° 10' north latitude. The project aims to develop a new online networking platform which allows interaction between young adults across Europe and helps them learn a new language via problem-solving challenges and tasks. The project partners have drawn inspiration from the espionage theme in order to keep foreign language learning fresh and exciting. Learners log in and they are soon challenged, perplexed and entertained while covering a set of ten modules in the target language of their choice. Each module consists of a range of activities including photo stories, web quests, short tasks, quizzes, listening tasks and extended tasks that call for collaboration through a moderated forum. Guidelines are also developed as part of the project to support teacher training. By encouraging learners to communicate with peers across Europe through a funny virtual environment this innovative project aims to have a positive impact on developing language and intercultural skills. It focuses not only on improving intercultural dialogue in Europe but also on reinforcing language skills that are relevant to the workplace. In doing so we envisage that learners will be able to develop general and vocational language skills for use in both formal and informal situations.
