Biological peculiarities of cup plant (Silphium perfoliatum L.) and utilization possibilities in the Republic of Moldova
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Țîței, Victor
The research concerning the improvement and implementation of new species and cultivars of multiple values is dictated by the requirements of the national economy. The cup plant, Silphium perfoliatum L., a perennial herbaceous plant in the Asteraceae family, native to North America, is of particular interest. The biological particularities, productivity, chemical composition and nutritional value of natural and pickled (silage) fodder, as well as the energy capacity of aerial dry biomass of cup plant, the local variety “Vital”, created in the Botanical Garden (Institute) of ASM, registered in the Catalogue of Plant Varieties of the Republic of Moldova in 2012, have been studied. It has been established that the harvest of fresh mass at the first mowing, in late April, reaches 1.60 kg/m2 , during May – 3.66 - 5.62 kg/m2 , the leaves constituting more than 50% and in the bud formation - flowering stage – about 10.21-10.51 kg/m2 , with a content of leaves in the fodder of 33-37%. The fodder of cup plant, harvested in late May, contains an optimal amount of protein (16.33%) and fat (2.26%), but is characterized by a low content of cellulose (24.70%), a rather high content of minerals (14.16%) and nitrogen free extractive substances (42.55%) compared with alfalfa. The fresh mass of cup plant, harvested during June, is ensilaged without applying chemicals, 1 kg of silage contains: 0.13- 0.16 nutritive units, digestible protein 87-114 g/nutritive unit. The dry stems of cup plant can be harvested in winter with technical means for harvesting fodder and can be used in the production of solid biofuel, making briquettes and pellets. The harvested biomass has an energy capacity of about 18.3 MJ/kg of dry mass and the ash content of 2.5%.

The characteristics of the Romanian common names given to lower plants
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Zamfirescu, Oana
This paper represents an investigation in a particular field of the Romanian popular botanical names, that of the vernacular names given to lower plants (algae, bryophytes -mosses and liverworts-, lichens and fungi). The aim is to explain and exemplify the main characteristics of this popular nomenclature: the empirical dimension (defined by the popular denominative patterns and by the empirical categorization of the natural world), the denominative variability (according to the region in which is being used, different names are used for the same lower plant), the denominative imprecision (meaning several common names for a particular plant and one name for several plants) and the cultural individuality (the common names reflect the cultural environment of the community that created them). This nomenclature, based on pre-scientific principles (mainly on observation), is the sign of a primitive science and constitutes an assembly of distinctions and classifications which are made in the natural world. Therefore, it is obvious that the common plant names of lower plants are a mark of the originality, creativity and particular culture of a linguistic community.

Host plants preferred by tuta absoluta (Meyrick, 1917) larvae for pupation
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Băețan, Raul; Oltean, Ion; Macavei, Laura-Ioana; Addante, Rocco; Porcelli, Francesco
Tuta absoluta also known as the leafminer of tomatoes is an invasive pest able to destroy an entire field or greenhouse with tomato plants in a few days. With this study we intend to prove the preference of larvae for pupation. For the study we have used leaves from five plant species: tomato, eggplant, pepper, fig, and Solanum nigrum. Three randomly chosen types of leaves were placed in Petri dish. The most prevalent preference of larvae was for the tomato leaves, followed by Solanum nigrum while the eggplant showed little attraction for the larvae and pepper leaves were untouched. From this study we can conclude that tomato leaves were the most preferred by T. absoluta larvae for their pupation.

The influence of technology measures on the reducing effect of drought at winter wheat crop
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Stoenel, Costinel-Eduard
Romania's agriculture, like many other countries in the world, facing droughts, severely affecting crop production, animal life, people and, ultimately, the economy. Accelerating droughts, desertification and desertification were caused and continues to worsen due to neglect negative effects of technological progress and intensive industrialization had on the environment, particularly climate. The present work aims to determine the influence of soil and variety on the diminishing effect of drought by winter wheat crop with the intention of finding the best option to work. Influence of soil and associated works on the production of wheat variety yields the highest yields by making fall plowing as basic work, regardless of the variety used. Replacement the plowing with combiner or direct seeding, determined to obtain lower production up to 1400 kg / ha for Glosa and up to 1900 kg / ha for Izvor. Use in culture a variety Izvor to achieve a production of 5200 kg/ha compared to the control variant Boema, who achieved a production of 4900 kg/ha. Using the Izvor variety determined to obtain a significant production increase of 300 kg/ha. In similar climatic conditions of agriculture in 2012, which although precipitation surplus (at certain times), their poor distribution of the April and May, accompanied by a high temperature control throughout the growing season will mark the achievement of normal production the wheat crop, between 4000 - 6000 kg/ha. The experimental results obtained regarding the influence the basic work of soil and variety on wheat production highlight the significant role of these factors.

Strategic solutions for pollution reduction and restoring the rural environment - green roofs
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Doncean, Marilena
In building tall residential buildings and institutions, advanced industrial buildings and factories on large surfaces, paved roads and bridges, people draw on natural resources which include trees and shrubs, lush greenery or wild flowers. We can return the favor by creating green roofs on buildings. More and more “green roofs” are built around the world, on the initiative of small and large public projects. Green roofs are modern, environmentally friendly layers, partial or complete, with soil that allows vegetation to grow on the surface of the roof. This study shows that this is one of the most effective solutions for improving the environment.

Goerudio method and tool to achieve necessary level of comprehension
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Colibaba, Anca-Cristina; Dinu, Claudia-Elena; Colibaba, Lucia-Cintia; Cîrșmar, Ramona
The project rationale relies on the challenges that the educational and training systems are facing - the lack of motivation of secondary and vocational education students in studying scientific. The motivation of these problems are obviously complex and invest many different factors, but the project partners believe that the most important one is related to the fact that too often students approach to scientific issues is too passive, based on memorising rather than understanding. Goerudio is a learning methodology that is based on user involvement in its application and subject matter development. This program enables the user to explain complex formulas, physics laws and concepts presented by teachers with simple and familiar examples that are readily understood. The key difference between Goerudio and similar tools is that it facilitates learning rather than teaching and does not conflict with traditional teaching methods. Goerudio provides an internet based framework through which the user pool (students) refines the concepts and models in support of any given subject. Through active involvement in the process and the use of familiar examples, the learners rapidly gain a better understanding of the underlying principles or processes. Interaction and communication among the users helps to develop a common understanding of the concepts and their relationships to relevant laws of science and mathematics.

The role of the information transfer towards the agricultural producers in order for them to access the European and the national funds
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Apetroaie, Camelia
Through the Strategic National Plan 2007-2013 and afterwards through the National Rural Development Programme priorities have been outlined in order to receive funding through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. In this context, the transfer of the information towards the agricultural producers represented an important factor for attracting the European funds between 2008 and 2014. In the same time, Romania also supported the agriculture and the rural development by national funds, the information transfer having a positive impact for accessing these. The paper presents the information needed at an individual, group or community level for sustaining the development with European or national funds, the methods used, the difficulties met, as well as the specific results obtained after this transfer. The paper also analyses the funds attracted at a wider level, emphasizing the results of this approach following some financing measures highly demanded in the rural area. The information for the agricultural producers and for the members of the rural communities is also important during the implementation of the European funded projects, as the non-compliance or the late submission / failure to submit the paperwork in due time can invalidate the funding. The previous experience of attracting the European and the national funds between 2008 and 2014 clearly shows that the information and the transfer methods had an impact over the total accessed value for agriculture and rural development, providing opportunities for growth for the period 2014-2020.

Symbiotic relationship between physical gardens and their literary representations
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Pânzaru, Olga
As it has been mentioned by many scholars and researchers it is impossible to say whether the first earthly paradise gardens drew their imagination from real, humanly cultivated gardens or whether they in fact inspired, at least in part, the art of gardening in its earliest aesthetic flourishes. What we can say, however, is that we know of these gardens through the written documents that preserve ideas of agricultural and horticultural perfection and that these written documents have inspired many physical gardens. Being governed by the cycles of birth and death, dictated by the seasons or the life spans of the plants, every garden is in some way a re-creation, an altered version of other gardens. Any garden in the Western world and in the East, is never just a garden but always a reminder of paradise, of the Garden of Eden, of Elysium. Gardens were often designed speciffically to imitate their literary counterparts, inviting the visitor to read another, often mythological, level of meaning into the landscape.Taking into account that although the uses and ideals attached to the garden have changed over the time, the desire to re-create Eden remains a constant in the developing attitudes and styles of gardens, our paper aims to underline the symbiotic relationship between physical gardens and their literary representations, the correlation of which influenced the development of garden design and of metaphorical gardens in literature.

Studies on the sources of pollution from livestock activities in the north-east region
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Robu, Alexandru-Dragoș; Gîlcă, Ioan; Costuleanu, Carmen-Luiza; Pricop, Oliver-Constantin; Boghiță, Eduard
An important consequence in any breeding activity is the production of large quantities of waste. These quantities of waste consist in manure from all species of animals, scrap of crops left from feeding, secondary production of crops unconsumed by animals, solid dung and fluid or semi-fluid manure. If these are managed and treated properly, they may be quality fertilizing material for the vegetable crops. Otherwise, in their initial untreated condition, they are negative polluting matter for soil, having also negative effects on crops, besides the positive ones. According to the studies conducted by specialized institutions, about 80% of livestock farms throughout the country belong to small agricultural holdings, owned by individuals of family farms. Because these kind of units lack the necessary technical and financial resources for its transformation, manure coming from the livestock is not trated, instead being randomly distributed on the edges of arable land, edge of the villages, or waterways, causing pollution to soil, and both groundwater and surface water. The study aims to analyze the current situation in Romania and especially in the North-East Region concerning the causes of pollution from livestock.

Examples of good practice lifelong learning danish adults
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Stanciu, Mihai; Ungureanu, George
Our communication presents some examples of good practice in adult continuous training that we observed during an exchange project -driven POSDRU Esbjerg University of Denmark, which is a section of the University of Aalborg. We believe that the fundamentals of preparing the individual for training place yet from university with teaching learning strategies. We consider mainly the problem-based learning, called “PBL - Aalborg model". The model provides a unique learning environment, where teamwork and project management are highly evolved. Therefore, the student will gain experience and practice in project management and self-learning ability - skills required in the industry. The Denmark had in 2013 the highest percentage of coverage of the population (25-64 years) in training (31.4%) in the European Union (Source : Eurostat, 2014), this being an important element of government strategy for 2007-2012. Labour market model is based on political consensus and decentralization through the active involvement of different actors at basic levels and stable social networks. A significant example is the organization AMU Centre, an adult training canter which has the following objectives: developing skills, solving problems on the labour market opportunities for men, global approach to world problems professions. Training of contemporary individual must reconcile two different purposes: preparing for occupations that exist and the capacity to adapt to professions that have not yet been imagined (Delors J., ed ., 2000).

Cotnari vineyard - a gift of hydraulic foehn?
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Sfîcă, Lucian; Ichim, Pavel; Patriche, Cristian-Valeriu; Irimia, Liviu-Mihai; Oană, Liviu
Cotnari vineyard is the northernmost wine-growing vineyard of our country, located close enough to the northern limit of the expanding region of the grape vine. Within this study, we analyse one of the climatic factors that, in our view, contributes to the climatic favorability of this region for the vine plantations: the foehn. More precisely, the hydraulic foehn, which is not mentioned in the Romanian climatology literature, although the mechanism associated with the development of this type of foehn wind, is described for more than 40 years in the international climatological literature. We bring arguments for the manifestation of the hydraulic foehn during winter 2013-2014 in the related region of Cotnary vineyard on the basis of measurements accomplished at Paşcani climatologic station and at other 11 points of hourly monitoring temperature of Dealu Mare-Hârlău region. Additionally, radio-sounding data, synoptic maps and other synoptic data of some of the meteorological indicators of foehn development are used. Local generating mechanism, periods of occurrence, synoptic conditions associated to its generation, the intensity of temperature difference recorded within the region and the possible effect of its development in the increase of the region’s favourability for the vine-growing, are analysed in our study

The man and the environment are two inseparable entities from the birth of man. They performed together in harmony and later started since 1750 with some of the industrial revolution this harmony outsider continuously degraded environment reaching as XXI century , the degradation of environmental factors on planet Earth the reached levels that worries the international community jeopardizing the very future of mankind. It is known that human existence is dependent on the environment and environmental factors such as air , water and soil change ( negatively ) from their use by humans. This phenomenon is generally called pollution and has the effect of changing the characteristics of products of human and animal activity. Most affected are the products of farming which is daily food for all (7.5 million) inhabitants of Earth. Contaminated foods create serious health problems for people fighting humanity spends huge sums sometimes without results or poor results. Rapid growth of population pressure on Earth, will put great pressure on agriculture, which should ensure a level of quality food at least 300-400 kg food / person / year . Is this possible with current agricultural technology and organic products are an alternative.

Mark - a primary attributes in the company
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Matei Gherman, Corina; Matei, Vasile
Overall marks express the general architecture firm / organization / company relates to the market. There are four major types of architecture marks (Aaker, D., 2002) from the company / organization / company which is an umbrella for many brands for several companies operating until the company / organization / company itself which is a brand. Each of these four types of architecture, brand, brings benefits and risks with major implications for the survival of the market that brand because the brand can not be separated from the company in view of customers, it can affect the relationship with the consumers. Companies can change or modify the architecture brands by market requirements or when they deem it necessary. At the same time must remain open and flexible to the needs of consumers and brands to create new architectures more efficient and imaginative designs using different techniques. Most models for the analysis of portfolios of activities of firms have a number of limitations, which have prompted experts to challenge their practical relevance and applicability in a competitive environment imperfect and unstable, as in most markets. There are experts who believe that it is undeniable contribution of these methods to create a competitive analysis and decision algorithm and combat these methods do not understand the mission they have. The model asset portfolio analysis of a company can be in practice strategic benchmarks against which identifies concrete action directions competition but have a very mechanistic view of the competitive game and possible policy options.

Issues regarding agriculture development in Botosani county after accession to The European Union
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Chiran, Aurel; Gîndu, Elena; Ungureanu, George; Jităreanu, Andy-Felix
Development and efficiency strategy of agricultural production in a certain area is based on the analysis of the economic and financial situation of the agricultural sector, which should take into account the adoption of those measures aimed primarily at increasing agricultural production and, secondly, making it more efficient by accessing European funds (1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 24). These measures will have a major influence on increasing the efficiency of the Romanian agriculture by promoting farmers’ managerial and marketing skills and orientation of farming activities to profitable investment, including integrated projects, by accessing EU funds (5, 6, 10, 15, 16). National Rural Development Programme is the instrument through which the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the European Economic Recovery Plan (EERP) can be accessed, which complies with the strategic guidelines of the EU rural development (15,20). Achieving the desired objectives of the National Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 is provided by the Managing Authority for P.N.D.R., namely the General Directorate of Rural Development, belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), in its actual form, consumes, through the complex system of subsidies and other financial incentives, about half of the common budget and is built around two pillars: the first is the common market organizations and covers common regulation measures of agricultural products integrated markets functioning, and the second, which gained magnitude in the past decade, is rural development and includes structural measures that target a harmonious rural development (diversification of activities, product quality, environmental protection) (24). Accessing European funds for agriculture and rural development is closely linked to the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture, which operates in three main areas, developing support measures financed from the national budget and European funds (6.16): a) direct payments and market measures; b) some measures financed from European funds for agriculture and rural development, established by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; c) payments which represent financial support from the national budget. Through the presented paper, the authors have proposed to highlight the main aspects that characterize the evolution of Botosani county’s agriculture after Romania’s adherence to the European Union (8, 11, 12, 22).

Marketing study on wine consumers’ behavior from Iasi
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2014) Jităreanu, Andy-Felix; Chiran, Aurel; Gîndu, Elena
Research indicates that there is no such thing as a well defined market for wine, as there are no typical wine consumers. Wine market consists of several segments that are influenced by demographics, psychographics and the context in which it is consumed. Given the complex nature of the product itself, but also of the market, wine is one of the consumer products that are most difficult to address from a marketing perspective. Understanding how consumers choose a brand of wine continues to be a complex problem. Wine is a product that generates confusion among consumers, due to the large number of indexes on the label, such as brand name, region or grape variety. Unlike most foods products, wine taste may vary in a given year depending on the harvest, even if the brand and other extrinsic information remain the same. For other food categories, consumers easily switch between different brands according to market share and are not very concerned about the differences in taste or quality behind the labels. The study on which this paper is based aimes to analyze the wine consumers’ behavior from the Iasi market. Research objectives include: evaluating the main characteristics of the wine purchasing behavior, determination of preferences regarding the main characteristics of the product, evaluation of the main characteristics of consumer behavior and identifying features of the acquisition, consumption and preferences based on gender, age, education, number of family members and income.
