(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2018) Hnoevyy, V.V.; Hnoevyy, I.V.; Kotets, H.I.; Pastukhov, V.I.; Melnyk, V.I.
The crop yield of green mass of corn and soya mixtures during the wax ripeness of corn grain of the variety “Dniprovska 310” and the full ripening of soya grain of the variety “Podilska – 1” grown on the agricultural backgrounds without fertilizers and (NPK)45 has been determined during the scientific and research experiment. The seeding rate of corn and soya in the mono specific crops was 25 kg/ha and 80 kg/ha, respectively, but in three mixtures - corn 25 kg/ha, soya 20 kg/ha, 40 kg/ha and 60 kg/ha, that was, respectively, 25 %, 50 % and 75 % of the seeding rate of soya in the mono specific crops. The use of mineral fertilizers provided the increase in the yield of corn and soya mixtures for the above options by 2000 kg/ha, 3700 kg/ha and 3000 kg/ha, respectively. The highest crop yield of green mass – 40400 kg/ha was produced by the option with mineral fertilizers and the seeding rate: corn - 25 kg/ha and 40 kg/ha, it exceeded the mono specific crop of corn by 2200 kg or 5.8%. At the mixed sowing of corn and soya the content of protein in the dry matter of crop yield of the mixture on the agricultural background without fertilizers increased 1.30 - 1.61 times but on the agricultural background with fertilizers - 1.49 - 1.69 times as compared with the mono specific crop of corn and the content of fat increased 1.17 - 1.67 times and 1.07 - 1.37 times, respectively. The use of corn and soya mixtures had a positive impact on the main energetic performances of their growing as compared with mono specific sowing of corn. The yield from 1 ha of gross and metabolizable energy increase, respectively, by 12.4 - 10.7% and 10.3 - 11.5%, the energy consumption of 100 kilograms of protein decreased nearly twice. The replacement of corn silage by corn and soya one in the composition of feed mixtures for dairy cows promoted the increase in their daily milk yields by 3.0 kg or 11.3% and fat in milk – by 0.2 % at the absolute favorable performances of energy consumption for milk production.

Research on the quality of meat following slaughter
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2018) Muntean, C.; Boișteanu, Paul-Corneliu; Lazăr, Mircea; Lazăr, Roxana
The appreciation of the quality of the meat is made multifactorial only through the physico - chemical factors to exclude any level of subjectivity from appreciation. The paper presents research on hybrid BUT 6, intensively grown, referring to color, softness, texture of the meat, boiling losses. To express the color of turkey meat, the brightness was determined, which depends on the light reflection power. The tenderness of the turkey meat determines its taste value being determined by the ease with which it is cut or chewed. Expression of fleshiness was performed by primary statistics calculated using Warner Bratzler shear forces. The texture of the meat was appreciated by the following coefficients: hardness, cohesiveness, adhesion, guminess, elasticity and masticability. Boiling losses are the ability of the meat to lose a share of its own weight. This technology of meat is a criterion for expressing the water retention capacity of prepared meat. Boiling losses vary according to the structural features of muscle tissue, thicker fibers record a higher rate of water loss. Very significant results in the expression of the complementary colors of red-green and yellow blue, as well as a significant difference in cohesiveness between the two anatomical regions studied, were recorded.

Possibilities to increase feeding effectiviness in swine
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2018) Simeanu, Daniel; Pascal, Constantin; Radu Rusu, Răzvan-Mihail
There are many ways to improve the effectiveness of animals’ feeding. Among these, one is to include the granulation stage in the technological flow of mixed feed manufacturing. Granulation could remove some drawbacks connected with feed usage as flours and so contribute to optimization of farm animals’ feeding. In the current paper we approached this theme in the particular situation of feeding fattening pigs. The experiment addressed 4 animal groups as biological material, each comprised 30 weaned piglets, aged 30 days. They were fed complete mixed feed with the same nutritional value but with different presentation, as follows: LM – control group – feeding with dried flour fodder; LG1 – feeding with granulated feed Φ2mm; LG2 – feeding with granulated feed Φ4mm; LG3 – feeding with granulated feed Φ7mm. During the study, there were tracked several productive traits, such as: body mass, average daily weight gain, total feed intake and feed conversion rate (FCR). By the end of the research, it was observed that the best results were produced by the pigs whom were given mixed feed with diameters of 2 and 4 mm, while granules with a 7 mm diameter didn’t produced beneficial effects. In the groups with the best performances (LG1 and LG2), the final body mass was 1.58-2% higher compared to the control group, and the FCR on the whole fattening period was 2.75-4.77% more efficient than the one achieved by the pigs in control group.

Civic associations succeed to change the legislation regarding rearing of laying hens. Phenomenon lead to adaptation of some technological solutions which offer birds those life conditions specific both to welfare and also to obtain superior productive performances. In the current paper are presented the results of a study which aimed the survival rate of laying hens reared in two different systems: in batteries and in lofts. Research took place during 41 weeks, starting with the age of 20 weeks and were consisted in evaluation of flock losses and the causes which generate them. The obtained data shown that total flock losses were of 6.41% for the hens reared in lofts and 4.26% at the ones reared in batteries, face to 3.1% which is recommend by the producer of the utilised hybrid. Regarding the causes which generate the flock losses, at variant with accommodation in lofts was founded a higher rate of hens with mechanical accidents (51.7% face to only 42.1% in batteries) due to frequent movements both horizontally and vertically, to the food/water sources or to laying/rest area. Hens accommodated in batteries presented a higher incidence of obstetrical diseases (34.7% vs. 29.6%) and internal ones (23.2% vs. 18.7%) caused by more intense laying rhythm in comparison with the hens from lofts. Data obtained by us regarding survival rate of laying hens flocks show the fact that this one is clearly influenced by the utilised rearing system, but it is also the dependence of some perturbation factors which could be eliminated by adaptation of some adequate measures.

In a world which is in a continuous change, consumers are usually aware by the relation between meat quality and safety and animals’ welfare and many of them consider that chickens reared in free range system had superior sensorial qualities. The aim of the study was to evaluate the differences between growing performances (slaughtering yield, rate of cut portions and muscular mass) and abdominal fat quantity of broiler chickens with slow growing. For elaboration of the current study were chosen 3 hybrids, reared in extensive system, in blind shelters and with access in paddock during summer; rearing duration of chickens was 56 days. So, were constituted three batches, as follows: batch Lc1 - Ross 308 hybrid chickens; batch Lexp1 - Hubbard hybrid chickens and batch Lexp2 - HB Color hybrid chickens. Calculus of slaughtering yield show the fact that the best values (69±0.003%) were at chickens from batch Lc1, followed by chickens from batch Lexp1 (65±0.003%) and by chickens from batch Lexp2 (62±0.003%). Regarding the rate of anatomical portions, the established mean rates for breast with bone were 37% at batch Lc1, 35% at batch Lexp1 and of only 30% at batch Lexp2; the ones for thighs with bone were 34% at batch Lc1, 35% at batch Lexp1 and 34% at batch Lexp2, the values for wings were at levels of 12% for Lc1, 12% for Lexp1 and 14% for Lexp2, while back represented 17% from carcasses at batch Lc1, 19% at the ones belonging to batch Lexp1 and 22% for Lexp2. In according with the obtained results we can say that Hubbard hybrid is the most suitable one for slow growing, because recorded the most equilibrated rate for slaughtering yield related to the percentage of cut portions.

The effects of administering zeolites on growth performances in a juvenile carp polyculture (Cyprinus carpio) with silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) and bighead carp (Hypophthalmichthys nobilis)
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2018) Nistor, Veta; Savin, C.; Tenciu, Magdalena; Mocanu, Elena-Eugenia; Eșanu, V.O.
Volcanic tuffs contain a type of minerals, called zeolites, that function as "molecular sifts" in the treatment of wastewater. This study evaluated the influence of zeolite administration on carp brood growth in the 1st summer, it increased in polyculture with Silver Carp and Bighead Carp. The results have shown that the use of zeolite has slightly influenced the soil and water quality and has resulted in a better assimilation of feed in basin B2 than in control B1. The overall growth rate was higher in B2 than in B1 (2.346 kg versus 2.226 kg). Biological material has grown normally, without the development of pathological conditions that could influence the conduct of the experiment. The physical-chemical parameters of the water, with few exceptions, fell within the optimal range for carp growth. Implementing this method of natural zeolite filtering would improve fish microclimate factors and increase the production of fish biomass and would obtain production increases in ecological conditions, and ensure the quality of technological water and stimulate better food assimilation. Trough the application of carp growth technology (Cyprinus carpio) in summer I in polyculture using zeolites involved the administration of organic fertilizers, the use of fodder as close to ecological standards as possible and the use of zeolites to ensure the quality of technological water as to stimulate better food assimilation The real growth gain in experiments had the highest value in B2 (conventional technology and zeolite utilization) with 2.346 kg / ha followed by B1 (conventional technology) with 2.226 kg / ha, indicating that the use of zeolite ensures both Physical-chemical parameters of the water but also contributes to a better assimilation of the food.

Whey recovery and nutraceutical products – preliminary data
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2018) Ahmadi, Mirela; Ciobanu, Fl.; Ciabrun, Isabella-Denisa; Tulcan, Camelia; Milovanov, Cornelia; Boldura, Oana-Maria; Mederle, Narcisa; Dronca, D.; Filimon, Nicoleta; Ivancia, Mihaela
Purpose of our work: This work proposed some fresh nutraceutical drinks based on whey resulted from milk processing technology. For this we collected fresh whey from a milk plant from Timis County and we prepared some beverages based on whey – as the majority ingredient. As secondary ingredients we used fresh pineapple, fresh kiwi, fresh ginger, powdered cinnamon, powdered anise, and in some products we add honey. Materials and methods: We proposed 4 different products with whey as a the majority ingredient: one beverage was prepared (blended) from whey, pineapple, and cinnamon; one with whey, pineapple, kiwi, and cinnamon; one with whey, pineapple, cinnamon, honey, ginger, and anise; and one prepared from whey, honey, and ginger. After 48 hours we analyzed the total content of lipids (Gerber method), acidity (Soxthlet-Henkel method), protein content (modified Steinegger method), dry matter and humidity (thermo-balance method). Results: The total content of lipids was 0.00% in fresh whey, and was very low in all prepared samples (0.2-0.4%); acidity was 3.8°T for whey and varied between 5.8-18.8°T in prepared samples– depending on the fruit content; total protein was registered as 1.64g/100g for whey, with variations between 1.55-2.52g/100g product; fresh whey had the highest water content (95.69%), with variations between 86.19-91.96 for our proposed whey-drinks. Conclusions: Whey is a valuable nutritional product that can be used for preparing fresh drinks with nutraceutical properties. Our preliminary data demonstrate that proposed drinks are very good for hydrating, being low in lipids and containing valuable and easy digesting proteins. Adding fresh pineapple, kiwi, ginger, honey and cinnamon to our products we improved the nutritive value of our products, especially by increasing the vitamins and minerals content. Also due to our ingredients we proposed four fresh nutraceutical products with very good antioxidant capacity.

Aspects regarding the operating pressure inside the milking teatcup liner
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2018) Chirilă, Constantin; Roșca, R.
stract The paper presents some preliminary results regarding the pressure variations inside the teatcup liner, during the milking process. The analysis was performed on the upper part of the liner, which has contact with the teat during milking. A proprietary test rig was used for the experiments; the system was equipped with a proprietary electro-magnetic pulsator, which can provide two milking ratios (1:1 and 3:1, respectively). Milk flow through the teatcup was simulated using water stored in an open tank of the test rig; water was chosen because its density is close to milk density. The tests results are presented within tables, for the two milking ratios used during the experiments. The tests showed that only small pressure variations were recorded in the liner-teat contact area. The small differences among the average values suggest that pressure inside the liner may be considered to be constant during milking.

(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2018) Enculescu, Marinela; Nicolae, Ioana; Sertu, St.; Vidmichi, Daniela
stract The aim of this study was to evaluate the body weight and biometric measurements on crossbreed newborn calves comparative with Romanian Black Spotted newborn calves. Our researches was carried out in the Dairy cows' Farm of I.C.D.C.B. Balotesti. We have taken into consideration four experimental groups (E1 Romanian Black Spotted x Charolaise, E2 Romanian Black Spotted x Blanc Blue Belgique, E3 Romanian Black Spotted x Aberdeen Angus, E4 Romanian Black Spotted x Limousine) and one control group (M) Romanian Black Spotted, with n=5 heads/group. The main body measurements performed were: body length (BL), height at withers (HW), height at rump (HR), height at chest (HC), perimeter of the thorax (PT), perimeter of the shin (PS), length of rump (LR). Means± (standard error), standard deviations (sd) and coefficients of variation (V) of body weight and biometric measurements were calculated. To obtain the significance of the differences, the Student’s test was applied. The mean values obtained for the body weight was distinct statistically significant (p<0.01) in the case of group E1 and statistically significant (p<0.05) in the case of group E2 comparative with the control group M. The average values recorded for height of chest (HC) was 34.20±0.37 cm in E2 comparative with 31.80±0.49 cm in M group (p<0.01). The mean value for perimeter of the shin varied between groups, for E2 and E3 groups values were close to the native race (BNR), but very statistically significant differences between group E4 and control group M (p<0.001). The analyzed quantitative traits showed some better performances for crossbreed calves comparative with BNR calves.

Effect of the dietary oregano (Origanum vulgare L.) powder and oil on the performance, carcass and organs development of broilers reared under heat stress (32°C)
(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2018) Vlaicu, Petru-Alexandru; Panaite, Tatiana-Dumitra; Olteanu, Margareta; Turcu, Raluca-Paula; Sărăcilă, Mihaela; Criste, Rodica-Diana
An experiment on COBB 500 broiler chicks, reared under heat stress, evaluated the effect of the oregano (Origanum vulgare L.) powder and oil, on broiler performance, carcass and organ development. The study used 80, 1 day-old Cobb 500 chicks, weighed individually and housed in an experimental hall with 32°C constant temperature, humidity 36% and 23 h light regimen. During the starter stage (1-14 days), all chicks received a conventional diet formulation with corn and soybean meal as basic ingredients. During the growth stage (14-42 days), when the actual feeding trial started, the chicks were weighed, assigned to four groups (C, C1, E1, E2). Compared to the conventional diet C (with monensin in the premix for the grower phase), diet formulation C1 didn’t include monensin in the premix. The diet formulations for the experimental groups were similar with formulation C1 but differed from it by the addition of 0.01% oregano oil (E1), or 0.005% oregano oil plus 1% oregano powder (E2). The chicks had free access to the water and feed. Throughout the experimental period from 14 to 42 days, body weight gain was recorded weekly and feed intake was recorded daily. At the end of the feeding trial, 5 chicks from each group were slaughtered in order to make measurements of the relative weight of carcass cuts and internal organs of broilers.

(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2018) Olteanu, Margareta; Sărăcilă, Mihaela; Ropotă, Mariana; Turcu, Raluca-Paula; Criste, Rodica-Diana; Dragatoiu, D.; Pogurschi, Elena-Narcisa; Marin, Monica-Paula
Natural and synthetic zeolites are widely used in animal nutrition as performance promoters, and their use also exerts a variety of favourable effects on the prevention or treatment of certain animal diseases in the farm. Natural zeolites provide the necessary macro and trace elements for animals, and stimulate their health and production (Quote Garcia- Lopez et al., 1992; Nikkhah et al., 2001; Sadeghia si Shawrangb, 2008; Dschaak et al., 2010; Deniz Alic Ural, 2014; Panagiotis et al., 2016). Thus the present paper has proposed the characterization of tuff in terms of its nutrient content and the study of the effects of its use in cows feeding on milk quality. Tuff has 90.49g% dry matter, 1.63g% calcium, 0.09g% phosphorus, 1793.18ppm iron. The raw ingredients used in the diets of dairy cows were: a mixture of barley and corn with a content of 87.52g% of dry matter, 9.61g% crude protein, 1.39g% ether extractives; corn cob + beans with 39.21% dry matter, 3.68g% crude protein, 1.36g% ether extractives; corn silage with a content of 28.71 g% dry matter, 1.47 g% crude protein, 0.54 g% ether extractives, and alfalfa hay with 88.87 g% dry matter, 17.23 g% crude protein, 0.92 g% ether extractives. Cow's milk had 13.51g% dry matter, 2.62 g% protein, 0.11g% calcium, 0.08g% phosphorus, 1.63 ppm iron.

These International Awards can be compared to Michelin Stars (similar to the Michelin Guide, iTQi does not organize a competition, but rewards each product for its merits). The working method aimed the analyze of the information collected from iTQi database for the entire period in which there are records (2015, 2016 and 2017) and their processing according to the distinctions obtained for the beverage and food products assessed by the iTQi jury, after a blind evaluation: Diamond Taste Award (DTA), Crystal Taste Award (CTA) and Superior Taste Award (STA). The jury gives each product a certain score (maximum 100 points) after testing, based on the following criteria: appearance, smell, texture, flavor and taste. All products with a minimum score of 70 points are rated as STA and are awarded with one, two or three gold stars, depending on the score achieved. The highest distinction granted by iTQi is represented by DTA (the product analyzed obtaining more than 90 points seven times in the last ten years), followed by CTA (the product analyzed obtaining over 90 points three years in a row). The analysis conducted reveals a slight growth trend of the number of awards granted by iQTi, from 796 awards in 2015 (764 STA, 26 CTA and 6 DTA), to 799 awards in 2016 (765 STA, 30 CTA and 4 DTA) and respectively 833 awards in 2017 (813 STA, 15 CTA and 5 DTA). Romania has so far only gained STA recognition, but to an increasing number of products (seven in 2015, 12 in 2016 and 17 in 2017).

The cake analysis was done by a special jury during a student contest and received 34,6 points of 40 maximum and obtaining the second place
