    Noni fruit extract (Morinda citrifolia Linn) with supplemented by cu and zn minerals as feed additive to improve conversion meat protein of sentul chicken

    The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal level of noni fruit extract supplemented with Cu and Zn (ENF) as feed additives in the meat conversion of Sentul chickens. The study used 100 DOC Sentul chickens that were kept until 12 weeks old. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications, namely basal ration (PO), basal ration added with 50 mg/kg Bacitacin Zn (P1), Basal ration added with 125 mg/kg ENF (P2), Basal ration was added with 250 mg/kg ENF (P3), and Basal ration was added with 375 mg/kg ENF (P4). The parameters observed were protein consumption, body weight gain, carcass weight, protein conversion, and meat protein conversion. The results showed that the five treatments had a significant effect on all treatments in Sentul chickens. It can be said that providing a basal ration that was added up to a level of 375 mg/kg of noni fruit extract supplemented with Cu and Zn (P4) quantitatively had results that were close to the positive control results (P1) so that the noni fruit extract with Cu and Zn supplements was expected substitute for antibiotics that can improve livestock performance.

    Swine breed influence on pork proximate composition and energetic value

    In order to test whether swine breed influences pork proximal composition and other nutritional traits, such as collagen, cholesterol and gross energy content, 60 carcasses from Duroc and Landrace pigs were sampled from loin and ham cut regions (15 males and 15 females from each breed). Samples were subsequently introduced to proximate analysis, using conventional AOAC protocols, enzymatic assay for cholesterol content and NIR Spectroscopy for collagen content then the data were submitted to multiple comparison analysing to test the differences between influential factors (breed, gender and cut part) on the reasoning criteria. Breed significantly influenced the total lipids content, as well as the gross energy content (P < 0.05). In all situation, Duroc samples were richer in lipids, cholesterol and energy, compared to Landrace and the same rule applied for females vs. males and for ham vs. loin comparisons. Therefore, swine breed, gender and carcass cut are factors interfering with pork chemical composition and with certain nutritional and dietetic traits, when the animals are raised within the same farm and benefit of the same rearing and nutrition conditions.

    Evaluation of genetic potential for milk production in the Rovasi sheep breed

    The main purpose of conducting milk production control is to identify high-performing milk producing ewes that can serve as the foundation for future selection nuclei, aiming to obtain offspring with superior productivity potential. The practical importance of establishing elite nuclei is also ensured by the fact that future ram dams will be selected only from the females forming this elite group. The research was conducted on two batches of lactating females (L1 and L2). In order to evaluate their milk production potential as objectively as possible, control works were carried out both during the suckling period of the lambs and during the exclusive milking period of the ewes. Accepted working methods were used for both periods, and the two groups benefited from identical conditions. Statistical analysis of the data for the suckling period indicates the existence of differences between the groups (P < 0.01). Regarding the total milk production obtained in the respective lactation, it was observed that the highest quantity was obtained from L2, which provided a superior production by 28.75% compared to L1.

    New contributions to the knowledge of the status of freshwater peaceful fish and predatory species in the Danube river km 1047 – 1071

    This study aims to contribute to the identification of the ichthyofauna structure for the most important fish species in the Danube River, sector km 1047-1071 by quantifying the data obtained during 2021 through scientific fishing, compared to the studies carried out in 2020. The purpose of this work is also to analyze the influence of environmental factors on catches and the structure of the ichthyofauna. Compared to 2020, the appearance of the species Hypophthalmichthys molitrix (Valenciennes, 1844) in catches and changes in the ratios between catches per species and fishing seasons can be noted. Both temperature and water level showed variations in correlation with total catches. Water levels and flows show a direct correlation with both the number of specimens caught and the catches.

    Physical-chemical and sensory properties of floss spent laying hens meat cooked with different level of coconut water

    This study was aimed to determine the physical-chemical (moisture, ash, protein, fat, carbohydrates) and sensory tests (colour, flavour, taste, and texture) of floss spent laying hens meat (SLHM) cooked with different level of raw coconut water (CW). Randomized completely design was used in this study; four treatments as follows A1 = 300 g chicken meat + spices + 50 ml CW, A2 = 300 g chicken meat + spices + 100 ml CW, A3 = 300 g chicken meat + spices + 150 ml CW and A4 = 300 g chicken meat + spices + 200 ml CW; 4 replications each treatment. The results showed that floss SLHM cooked with different levels of raw CW were given significantly different on moisture content (6.24-6.45%), ash content (2.97-3.20%), protein (27.97-33.34%), fat (27.44-28.83), and carbohydrates (19.34-21.54%) respectively, but not given significantly different on colour, aroma, flavour and texture. It was concluded that even though there were differences on physical-chemical content within the floss SLHM treatments, however the panellists were given relatively the same responses on sensory of floss SLHM overall.

    Feeding strategy optimization of starry sturgeon (Acipenser stellatus, Pallas 1771) with Artemia nauplii

    The importance of feeding live food in the first stages of fish life is crucial, because the organism is not fully developed, the accessory glands and the enzymatic equipment of the digestive tract are also insufficiently developed. Natural food brings a supply of vitamins, enzymes, and hormones with a major role in the process of digestion and absorption of the food, very important in the ontogenetic development and in increasing the immunity of fish in the larval and postlarval stages. Internationally, over the years, numerous studies have been carried out on the feeding of fish with Artemia, but the present study aims to optimize the process of feeding Artemia nauplii to freshwater fish reared in a recirculating system. This brine shrimp can survive a limited amount of time in fresh water, after which it rapidly decomposes and, due to its high protein content, becomes a water pollutant for the recirculating system. From the point of view of the costs for cyst decapsulating and the energy costs for hatching, they are too costly to afford feeding "ad libitum" with nauplii the fish larvae. The use of the minimum amount of live Artemia nauplii depends on the resistance of the nauplii in fresh water, expressed in a maximum time interval of 3.5 hours, after which vital activity and very low survival are recorded. The optimal Artemia nauplii feeding requirement of starry sturgeon with an average weight of 0.26±0.15 g and an average length of 3.78±0.8 cm is about 2.26% B.W. representing a maximum of 4.5 g wet mass of nauplii administered per 1,000 of larvae daily.

    The effect of crossing the Carpatina breed with the Boer breed for the quantitative and qualitative improvement of the meat production in goats

    In Romania there are few studies on increasing the production of meat in goats through hybridization, these works being carried out within I.C.D.C.O.C. Palas Constanta. The present study aims to show the advantages of crossbreeding of the Carpatina breed with the Boer breed in terms of all morpho-productive indices, the aim being to create an autochthonous breed of goats specialized for meat production, well adapted to the conditions in our country. In this regard, this paper aims to study the main morpho-productive indices of the newly created population (75% Boer x 25% Carpatina) within the institute, compared to the Carpatina breed. The main breeding indices (fecundity, prolificity) were higher in the R1 with 2.69 and 23.1 percentage points respectively compared to the Carpatina breed. Body weight of bucks and goats in the new population R1 (75% Boer x 25% Carpathian) was higher by 44.02% and 9.72% respectively compared to the Carpatina breed. The average daily gain achieved by the kids during the fattening period was 123.56-172.75 g, higher by 39.8% at the R1. Also, the Daily ingest of dry matter was higher by 19.91% for the R1 compared to the Carpatina. In terms of feed conversion, the best conversion was made by the hybrids R1 with 167g increase for 1kg of D.M. ingested, while in the group of Carpatina kids, the conversion was 144g for 1kg of D.M. ingested. In the two groups of fattened kids, the compactness index of the gigot and the muscularity index of The gigot had the value at the R1 of 83.19% respectively 240.5% compared to only 66.44% respectively 177.21% in the group of Carpatina kids. The slaughter yield was 42.29-50.40%, being higher by 8.11 percentage points in the group of R1 (75% Boer x 25% Carpatina breed).

    Primary processing of cervid carcasses for traditional specialities

    A thorough understanding of the inherent qualities of venison and the specialized techniques and methods for processing it, especially considering the difficulty of its preparation, is a prerequisite for the growth of the game meat processing industry as well as the manufacture of game meat products. The biological material used in this study is composed of hind carcasses that were collected from the 24 Frasin hunting area in Suceava. The carcasses were processed through the technological operations of cutting and deboning, followed by the selection of anatomical regions suitable for the production of traditional venison specialities. Following the practical implementation of the proposed processing operations, each anatomical region, as well as the auxiliary anatomical parts of the carcass, were evaluated proportionally; their weight was determined in relation to the total weight of the carcass. For the whole carcass, yields of 32.74% muscle tissue of specialities, 25.75% quality I and II meat, 13.3% bone and 10.59% connective tissue were found. The weight of the animal's gunshot wound represented 17.59% of the total carcass weight.

    Aspects on ensuring life quality through sustainable development

    Sustainable development links environmental, social and economic policies in a coherent framework, thus contributing to the implementation of environmental legislation and policies. The concept of Sustainable Development designates all the forms and methods of socio economic development that focus primarily on ensuring a balance between social, economic and ecological aspects and the elements of natural capital. Sustainable development seeks and tries to find a stable theoretical framework for decision making in any situation where there is a human-environment relationship, be it the surrounding, economic or social environment. Although initially sustainable development was intended to be a solution to the ecological crisis determined by the intense industrial exploitation of resources and the continuous degradation of the environment, and therefore primarily sought to preserve the quality of the surrounding environment, nowadays the concept has expanded to the quality of life in its complexity, and under economic and social aspect. The object of sustainable development is now also the concern for justice and equity between states, not only between generations. The energy sector has a major contribution to Romania's development, with a particular influence on economic growth, quality of life and the environment. To meet the long-term expectations of the population, the energy sector must become cleaner, more economically stable and more technologically modern. Romania's energy strategy for 2016-2030 with a time horizon of 2050 represents a national strategic approach that was approved and operates based on Government Decision no. 1069/2007. The main objective of the research is the analysis of Romania's national sustainable development strategy and the objectives aimed at increasing the quality of life. The research methodology used to achieve the above-mentioned objectives includes qualitative methods (meta-analysis of specialized literature) and quantitative methods (econometric methods - regression and correlation analysis, comparative analysis and correspondence analysis). The current focus has shifted to environmental management, which uses a broad combination of coercive and incentive measures to achieve sustainable improvements. This implies the definition of environmental policies in terms of the pursued objectives; the consideration and explicit mention of priorities; more pronounced decentralization, especially in terms of policy implementation; promoting better performance and managerial methods instead of simple emission control measures; adopting cost-effective strategies instead of adopting specific pollution control measures.

    Dynamics of romanian commercial fishing in the Black Sea (2008 – 2021)

    Fishing makes a fundamental contribution to food, services, leisure, commerce and of course the economic well-being of the population, whether it is for present or future generations, and must be managed in a responsible manner. The purpose of this paper is to present the quantitative and qualitative dynamics of the structure of commercial marine catches of Romania in the period 2008 - 2021. Also, an analysis was carried out regarding the volume of catches made against the total allowable catches (TAC), established by annual orders. The raw data presented in this paper are obtained from the official website of the National Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture. Until 2017, the catches in the Black Sea had an upward evolution, after which they had a downward trend. The dominant species in catches is the rapana snail (Rapana venosa) (90.78%), followed by sprat (Sprattus sprattus) (2%), mussels (Mytilus sp) (1.8%), anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus) (1.38%).

    Seeds and food security

    Ensuring food security consists in ensuring the amount of food needed by people and is part of ensuring national security. Food security takes into account both the need to ensure a sufficient agricultural supply and to ensure the economic access of the population to food, the stability of the supply and the way of using food at the individual level. The involvement of the political factor in these efforts is not sufficient, thus justifying the appearance of state bodies or different forms of population organization. This paper argues, based on the study of normative acts he need to involve the population in the free exchange of seeds, its first step in ensuring quality, tasty and safe vegetable products.

    The gradation of macrovegetation in the area of the Somova-parches aquatic

    The macrovegetation is a permanent, but not exclusive, component of the waterside area, fixed on the substrate by strong roots or rhizomes that, in most cases, cross the water column coming into contact with the atmosphere. For all categories of aquatic vegetation, the development in an excessive way leads to a deficit of oxygen in the warm months, at dawn. Oxygen varied between 8.32 mg/l end 8.68 mg/l. Our study was carried out in Tulcea County in July-August 2020 and July-August 2021. In this case study, the gradation of macrovegetation in space according to water depth is presented. The plant species were identified in the area of the Somova-Parches Aquatic Complex. In the Somova Parcheș Aquatic Complex, the reed covers large areas and plays an important role as a biological filter as well as protecting the banks

    Physicochemical characteristics and microstructural profiles of cottage cheese using pineapple bromelain enzyme [ananas comusus] as a natural coagulant

    Bromelin enzyme is a proteolytic that can help the hydrolisis of proteins into amino acids. In addition the bromelain enzym can also help the process of milk clumping, so that it can be aplied in cheese production. The research aims to analyse of the physicochemical characteristics and microstructural profile of cottage cheese using the enzyme bromelain from pineapple as a natural coagulant. The observed variables include protein, fat, moisture, ash, cheese yield . The research was conducted in a completely randomized design with 4 treatments [K0 =0%, K1 = 3%, K2 = 4%, K3 =5%], and 4 replications .All of the data were analysis of variance [Anova] and followed with significant difference[LSD] test. The results of the study concluded that a concentration of bromelin of 3% produced the best physicochemical properties of cottage cheese with the highest protein content and amendments as well as low water, fat and ash content, pH with a very noticeable difference of P≤0.01 from the treatment producing cheese containing 15.20±0.17% protein, fat content 2.12±0.01%, water content 44.31±0.12%, ash content 0.57±0.00%, yield of 10.18±0.09% and pH of 5.05. While the appearance of the microstructure indicates the presence of an interaction between the enzyme bromelin and the casein of milk protein. This suggests that the enzyme bromelin from pineapple extract can be used instead of cheap rennet in cheese making.

    Effect of some natural additives on bioproductive parameters and antioxidant nutrients of eggs provided by laying hens reared under heat stress conditions

    The objective of this study was to examine the effects of dietary inclusion of yeast, parsley and inulin, as sources of natural antioxidants in poultry diets, on the enrichment of antioxidant nutrients in the egg yolk and on the susceptibility of the yolk to lipid peroxidation during storage. The experiment was conducted on 47-week-old TETRA SL LL laying hens,reared in high temperature (30°C). Experimental dietary treatments differed from control diet (C) by addition of 1% yeast, 2% parsley and 1% yeast or 2% inulin and 1%parsley. The addition of yeast and inulin in laying hens’ diets significantly increased the zinc content in the yolk eggs. The use of yeast and parsley in laying hens’ diets increase the total polyphenol content, vitamin E, lutein and zeaxanthin and concentrations in the egg yolks. In regards to the oxidative stability parameters, a significant decrease in the concentrations of primary oxidation products formed in the egg yolk of experimental groups was seen, proving an efficient inhibition effect of the phytoadditives on peroxyl radical formation. A significant correlation was observed between oxidation products and total polyphenol content of the egg yolks, where lutein and zeaxanthin inhibit the formation oxidation products.

    Sensory properties and physical properties and microstructure appearance of yogurt with the addition of white Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) juice

    The purpose of this study was to analyze the sensory properties and physical properties of yogurt as well as the appearance of yogurt microstructure with the addition of white oyster mushroom juice (Pleurotus ostreatus). This study used a Complete Randomized Design with 5 treatments consisting of concentrations of 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% white oyster mushroom juice added to yogurt and repeated 4 times. The results of the fingerprint analysis showed that the addition of white oyster mushroom juice (Pleurotus ostreatus) to a concentration of 8% gave a very noticeable difference (P≤0.01] to sensory properties which included texture, taste, aroma, color and physical properties consisting of syneresis and viscosity of yogurt. Values for textures range from 3.20 to 4.60, values for colors range from 4.33 to 4.40, scores for aromas range from 4.27 to 4.40, values for flavors range from 3.60 to 4.53 from the highest score rating with a score of 5. For viscosity values ranging from 774.75 to 886.25 and syneresis values range from 57.24 to 52.28. The appearance of the microstructure indicates an increasingly compact bond with increasing concentration of the juice of the white oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus). The conclusion of this study the higher the concentration of white oyster mushroom juice gave good results on sensory properties and physical properties as well as the appearance of an increasingly compact microstructure.

    Analysis of longevity in Holstein and Montbeliarde cattle breeds

    This study aimed at estimating the heritability and breeding values for the productive herd life in Holstein and Montbeliarde cows using a survival model. Data was analysed by means proportional hazard model. The experiment was done inside the experimental herd of the institute. The average productive longevity was 854 days for Holstein (125 cows), and 1434 days for Montbeliarde (36 cows), respectively. The heritability values for longevity in cattle populations were 0.099 for Holstein, and 0.097 for Montbeliarde, respectively. Similarly, the breeding values for productive longevity of the studied cattle ranged from -0.319 to 0.127 months for Holstein, and from -0.140 to 0.130 months for Montbeliarde, respectively. Even though this trait is difficult to improve, longevity is recommended to be included in cattle breeding programs in Romania from its utility point of view.

    Rumex species an alternative feed source of nutrients for livestock

    Searching and finding low-cost natural nutritional solutions high in bioactive nutrients is imperative on today’s livestock. Genus Rumex includes about 150 species of annual, biennial and perennial herbs distributed mostly in temperate areas, including Romania. As reported by some authors, dry matter (DM) and crude fibre (CF) concentration of this plant can gradually increase from spring to first cut in June and fat concentration is similar to alfalfa and maize. Rumex spp. leaves can be considered as a phytoadditive with antioxidant, antibacterial and antiparasitic properties, anticoccidial and antiinflammatory activities. The benefits of plant are due to its chemical composition: anthraquinones, tannins, flavonoids and phenolic acids. Some of these compounds have shown anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. This natural alternative source of nutrients can be collected from its natural habits and can be recommended as a valued medicinal herb and appreciated culinary vegetable. Some studies concluded that Rumex spp. can be used as fodder for livestock with real benefits effects on production performances, intestinal health, serum parameters and milk composition. Several broilers’ studies noticed positive effects of patience dock on growth performances, duodenal morphology, serum thyroid hormones, and cecal microbiota. Taking into consideration the reported positive effects of Rumex spp. a dietary moderate inclusion in animal feed can be recommended.

    Physical-chemical properties of rejected duck nuggets given provit A1 commeal as a filler

    This study aims to determine the physical and chemical properties of rejected duck meat nuggets given provit A1 corn flour as a filler. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications (addition of provit A1 corn flour consisting of: 10% (J10), 20% (J20), 30% (J30) and 40% (J40). The results of the analysis of variances showed that the addition of provit A1 corn flour to the level of 40% had a very significant difference in the physical and chemical properties of rejected duck nuggets. The water content values ranged from 61.18 - 66.39%, protein 14, 38 - 16, 39%, starch 11.28 – 12.18%, water holding capacity 49.72 – 55.32 %, cooking shrinkage 1.26 – 4.73%. The conclusion of this study is that the addition of provit A1 corn flour to a level of 40% has an effect on the quality of physical and chemical properties of rejected duck meat nuggets.

    The influence of thermal frying treatments on the nutritional and health properties of fish meat

    Fish meat is a distinct food in human diets, as it is highly digestible and has the ability to provide a wide range of micronutrients, vitamins, amino acids and fatty acids in considerable quantities. In the last period of time, especially, in accordance with the studies on the specific nutritional factors of fish meat, the interest in the consumption of this aquatic product has increased, due to the determination and evaluation of the high content of PUFA omega-3 fatty acids, with a significant role for health, in especially eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5n-3, EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (22:6n-3, DHA). Long-chain n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, including α-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), are particularly important for human health, having been certified to protect the human body against cardiovascular disease, accelerated neurodegeneration and to reduce the inflammatory syndrome. In addition to playing an important role in cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases, essential fatty acids are vital in the development of neurons in fetuses and infants, and ensure the control of glycolytic metabolism. However, fish meat and fish meat products are by no means risk-free. Thus, a careful evaluation of the provenance and existing trophic chains in the geographical areas of origin of the fish is required, as well as the analysis of the impact generated by the meat preservation methods and procedures. Frying, for example, is one of the complex processes that can significantly change the nutritional composition of the fried food product. Among the processing techniques, food frying has gained more and more acceptance, all over the world, but a whole series of research they highlight multiple disadvantages, both from a nutritional and physiological point of view. During frying, the fat breaks down and many reactions occur that result in numerous structural transformations recorded by the fatty acids, namely the formation of trans fatty acids. Conclusively, following the analysis of the obtained experimental data, it is highlighted that the proportion of saturated fatty acids (SFA) in raw fish muscle was lower (26.01%) compared to fried fish muscle (29.05%), the ratio n-3/ n-6 changed after frying (0.44, in raw meat and 0.29 in fried meat), the Atherogenicity Index varied between 0.38, in raw meat compared to 0.85 in fried meat, and the Thrombogenicity Index was 0.38, in raw meat and 0.98 in fried meat, which shows that undesirable reactions occurred in fried fish muscle. The hypocholesterolemic/hypercholesterolemic ratio was relatively similar in raw muscle (2.68) and fried (2.13), but the total level of unsaturated fatty acids (UFA) in raw fish muscle (81.97%) was lower than that of fried fish (82.59 %). A higher percentage of trans fatty acids was identified in fried fish compared to raw fish. Frying carp meat considerably changed the fatty acid composition of fish meat, increasing the proportion of saturated fatty acids and decreasing the proportion of unsaturated fatty acids.

    Effect of soil quality on nutrient composition of Brachiaria hybrid mulato II grass grown in highlands of west Java Indonesia

    Mulato grass species have been introduced to the farmer in Indonesia due to their ability to provide feed for ruminant with high quality and biomass. However geographical, climatic, and soil quality (texture and properties) and management determined the quality of the grass or vice versa. Fertilizer and spacing were also affected the production of mulato.This study aimed to characterize and evaluate soil texture and properties and nutritive values of mulato grass grown in highlands Indonesia. This research was carried out in two different sites /location in Pangalengan, West Java, Indonesia. The sites that explored have different in the fertilizer and spacing of the grass (Pangalenga A and Pangalengan B). This research covered the characterization of geographical, climatic, and soil texture and characteristics/properties of those two sites, and tried to associate those characteristics into nutritive values of Mulato grass. Purposive sampling sample were used in this study and the data were descriptive interpreted. Results showed Pangalengan B site with high amount of fertilizer and shorter broadcast linear spacing had higher soil properties. However Pangalengan A site had better nutrient composition of mulato grass due to better this site received more solar radiation. In conclusion, beside soil properties and environment condition, soil texture and solar radiation will determine the nutritive composition of mulato grass.
