Sexual dimorphism (fm) in pigs of different genetic origin is defined as a ratio of the male to female body weight at a certain age, expressed as a percentage, with fm > 100% for a population with normal sexual dimorphism in body weight and fm < 100% for a population with reverse sexual body weight dimorphism. The following has been observed in young pigs of different origin during early ontogenic stages: boars tend to be heavier than gilts at birth, and such a pattern is maintained during the suckling period; however, this difference is levelled by 60 days of age; it results in trend changes in favour of gilts that outpace boars in terms of body weight at 90 and 120 days of age, which is indicative of their better adaptation to weaning. The difference between sexes at 150 days of age is levelled again, but by 180 days of age there is already a clear trend for greater body weight observed in boars as compared to gilts. Once representatives of the Large White and Pietrain breeds of both sexes reach a year or two years of age amid common pattern of normal sexual dimorphism in body weight, such outperforming of males over females is slightly more prominent for Large White animals as opposed to Pietrain pigs.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Understanding the professional development of teachers in digital age(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Life Sciences, Iaşi, 2021) Brezuleanu, Carmen-Olguța; Sîrghea, AlinaThe present paper analyzes the importance of quality education and focuses on preparing teachers to delivery it. Today's students are increasingly aware of the world of technologies; That is why educators see the need to take advantage of this new source of intrinsic motivation using tools of this type and incorporate them in the development of activities that encourage students to take an active part in their learning processes. The use of these teaching mechanisms allows increasing the possibility of promoting new forms of learning oriented to the development of thinking strategies and interaction with other individuals while stimulating their level of personal activity. The use of technologies allows information to be acquired, processed, stored and disseminated, which contributes to the training of people so that they can adapt to new social challenges. In this sense, it is considered that educator training should be aimed at generating reflections on processes aimed at promoting the pedagogical use of tools, resources, programs, services and environments characterized by the use of technology. The 21st century teacher needs much more than a superficial or mechanical understanding of the fundamental ideas of a discipline. It must also penetrate the deep structures of knowledge and their relationships, as well as the methods of testing, evaluating and expanding them. As a result, Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) released numerous statements focusing on business continuity, while Certification Programme Owner (CPO) and Certification Body’s (CB) would have to comply with requirements of the national regulations applicable to the management of the COVID-19 pandemic. The average length of stay (Ds) in tourist pensions and agro-tourist pensions in Suceava County by types of tourists in the same period analyzed (2010-2019) indicates average values of 2.15 days for Romanian tourists and 2.24 days for foreign tourists in tourist pensions respectively 2.24 days for Romanian tourists and 2.31 days for foreign tourists in agro-tourist pensions. In order to achieve the objectives of this work, four lots of carp brood were formed, which were raised in two farms in Iași County. The differences between the 4 groups consisted in the age of the breeders, in the food administered to them, as well as in the larvae, fry and the resulting brood. The present study was conducted over a period of 180 days with the aim of monitoring the growth performance of carp juveniles, by performing periodic weighing and biometric measurements (three times a month), determining the survival rate and the amount of feed needed for growth of carp brood throughout the analyzed period. The morphologic characterization used as an instrument of work in the evaluation of the morphometric changes of fish, is based on biometry. The study presented achieves a morphometric characterization of the tench through the classic biometric method and tests the possibilities of using 3D photographic method for fish measureing. The purpose of this paper is to assess the condition of Pontic shad flocks that arrived in the breeding areas in 2020. The morphometric characteristics, the sex ratio, the age and the growth parameters for the Pontic shad from the Smârdan - Gropeni area, Brăila county were studied. A number of 50 specimens of Pontic shad were examined during April-May 2020. The sex ratio in the analysed group was 56% females and 44% males. The smallest males were 2 years old, measured 26 cm and weighed 150 g, while the largest specimens were 3 years old with a total length of 33 cm and a weight of 275 g. The average length of the males was 30.214 ± 1.608 cm and the average weight was 215.952 ± 35.410 g. The smallest females measured 30 cm, weighed 220 g and were 2 years old and the largest specimens were 5 years old, they had 37 cm and 450 g. The average length of the female specimens was 33.357 ± 1.870 cm and the average mass was 328.571 ± 64.792 g. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of adding mineralized mangosteen peel extract in the ration on the performance and histological impact of sentul chicken intestines. This study used 100 DOC Sentul chickens, with a completely randomized design of five treatments and four replications. The ration treatments used were P0 (control without MPEm), P1 (control + 60 MPEm / kg ration), P2 (control + 120 mg MPEm / kg ration), P3 (control +180 mg MPEm / kg ration), and P4 ( control +240 mg MPEm / kg ration), given to Sentul chickens up to 12 weeks of age adlibitum. The variables observed were growth performance (feed consumption, final weight, ration conversion) and the impact on chicken intestinal histology. The results of statistical analysis showed the effect of treatment had a significant effect on body weight and ration coversion and histological condition of Sentul chicken intestines. Conclusion This study shows the addition of MPEm until 180 mg MPEm / kg ration has a positive impact on the performance of Sentul chickens and can be used as an alternative to antibiotics in the poultry sector.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , A role of meal combination of black soldier fly and curcuma on organic chicken production(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Life Sciences, Iaşi, 2021) Rumokoy, Laurentius J.M.; Tulung, Yohannis R.L.; Toar, Wisje L.The role of Hermetia illucence or black-soldier-fly (BSF) is known not only to degrade waste material, but also as a source of nutrients for other animals. This article aims to present a part of our research works concerning the role of these insects in producing organic chickens. In this study we combined 1.5% H. illucens larvae (HIL) flour with 3.5% curcuma (Curcuma zanthorrhiza) flour mixed into the ration and supplied to native chickens aged 4 to 8 weeks. The animals were divided in two groups: 28 chickens were placed in a control group and 28 others were placed in a treatment group. The parameters were abdominal fat deposition and carcass weight. The mean value of comparisons of two groups was analyzed by paired t-test. The results showed that both of abdominal fat deposition and carcass weight of the chicken in treatment group was significantly higher than in control group (P <0.01). This condition could be linked to the content of organic molecules; especially to the essential amino acids found in the body of H. illucens larvae which supported the growth process of the animal's body that consumes these feed-additives. This could be translated into the consumer dissatisfaction and economic loss. One of the most common practices to overcome this issue is the incorporation of synthetic antioxidants. However, the increasing health-consciousness of consumers and their preference for natural additives leads to the search of natural alternatives to synthetic antioxidants. A number of spices and Moringa oleifera leaves extracts have strong antioxidant properties and are explored as potential alternatives to chemical antioxidants in the meat industry. These compounds are classified as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS), and their application single or combined with other ingredients have beneficial effects on meat products. The results obtained were variable: 0.2-72.1 mm Pfund for color, 0.038-0.050% for water insoluble matter, 1.4876-1.4980 for refractive index, 15.48-19.52% for moisture, 80.48-84.52% for solids substances, 79.00-83.00 °Brix for total soluble substances and 1.420-1.448 g/cm3 for specific gravity. The values for pH and free acidity were in the range of 3.77-5.32 pH units, respectively 6.13-26.63 meq kg-1; the ash content varied between 0.027% and 0.344% and the electrical conductivity recorded values between 129 μS cm-1 and 775 μS cm-1. The analysis were performed in accordance with Romanian/EU standards. For all honey samples, the Pearson coefficient results indicated strong positive correlation between specific gravity and total soluble substances, between ash and electrical conductivity, respectively a strong negative correlation between moisture and refractive index, between moisture and total soluble substances and between moisture and specific gravity. For the realization of this tasks in the research methodology we had done the theoretical foundation of the sustainable rural development by elaborating the survey of households and defining the economic indicators based on the principal component analysis. The inclusion level of E 211 in the first group (mayonnaise) was 68.2-72.7% less than the maximum admitted inclusion level (AIL) (100 mg additive/100g product, while the calculated daily intake through eating a portion (20g) reached 3.6-4.2% out of the maximal admitted daily intake (MADI) for children and 0.9 1.59% of the MADI for adults. The concentration detected in the fish roe and marinated products was 38.67-40.93% lower than the AIL for this food category (150 mg/100 g). Calculus of the daily intake for a serving portion of fish roe (env. 60 g) reached 35.44-39.36% of the MADI for children and 13.28-18.96% for adult consumers. Although the inclusion rates were below the maximal admitted limits, if we cumulate the potential intake of the sodium benzoate from this two food sources with other food preferred by children (sweet treats and sodas), the daily intake dose for this additive present becomes alarming and could endanger the health of young age consumers.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Study on waterfowl meat texture – a comparison between the histological and rheological methods(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Life Sciences, Iaşi, 2021) Radu-Rusu, Răzvan-Mihail; Usturoi, Marius-Giorgi; Pânzaru, ClaudiaAmong the most used methods in investigating meat structure and texture and its estimated incidence on the sensorial ultimate quality felt by the consumer there is the shear force instrumental measurement using a device with adjustable force and a measurement chamber endorsed with a V gap blade, also known as Warner Bratzler tool. This instrument picks data during sample shearing, in terms of forces necessary to cut the myofibrilar (M force) compound and also the connective compound (C force) of the meat, reported to the elapsed time or distance till total shearing of the sample by the blade. We found out it would be great to compare this instrumental method of muscle toughness estimation with a method belonging to fundamental sciences, using histological and histometrical techniques on the same muscles. The biological material consisted in 20 pieces of breast meat, commercially available as refrigerated duck and goose meat in supermarket (10 samples of duck breast and 10 pieces of goose breast). Out of these material, there were shaped 10 rectangular samples from each breast (10 x 10 = 100 samples per waterfowl species, sized 4 cm length x 1 cm width x 1 cm depth) which were submitted to shear force testing using an Instron type texture analyzer. From the same breast pieces, there were cut 0.5 cm x 0.5 cm x 1 cm samples (5 samples per breast), using the same pattern of muscle fibers orientation like in the previously harvested samples, in order to submit them to paraffin inclusion, microtome cross-section and HEMB coloring, in order to prepare and examine smears using a Motic M230 microscope. Myocytes diameters, cross-section areas were measured and calculated, then reporting to the amount of muscle cell within a 1st order muscle fascicle and to its outer circumference and overall surface, the proportion of pure muscle and connective tissues were derived. The proportions found were compared to those derived from shear forces values readings, knowing the C force instrumentally measured is approx. 0.75-0.9 positively correlated with the connective tissue in muscle. The differences between the instrumental shear force detection of connective tissue and the histological method were quite low and not significantly different. Therefore, it could be stated that the quick instrumental rheological method depicts with accuracy the tissual structure of the muscles, at least at the experimental level we approached.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Research on the qualitative analysis of some sources of soft paste cheese(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Life Sciences, Iaşi, 2021) Rațu, Roxana-Nicoleta; Ivancia, Mihaela; Usturoi, Marius-GiorgiThrough this paper it was proposed to perform the qualitative analysis of two varieties of cheese with soft paste and mold on the outside, from the same producer, namely President and Delaco, Camembert Cheese and Brie Cheese. The qualitative analysis of the Romanian cheese with soft paste and mold on the outside, Năsal Cheese, produced by Napolact, was also performed. The qualitative parameters were established in terms of quality sensory indices, as well as physico-chemical ones. Sensory analysis involved assessing the appearance, color, appearance in section, consistency, taste and smell. The characteristics were in line with the norms imposed by the quality standard, obtaining for all assortments the rating "very good", the lowest score being for Brie cheese from the President - 18.51 points, and the highest score being recorded to the Romanian Năsal cheese assortment - 19.38 points. From a physico-chemical point of view, determinations were made to determine the water content (%), dry matter (%), fat / SU content (%), protein content (%), salt level in the product (% ) and acidity (° T). Following the determinations performed, it was found that all analyzed indices were within the limits of variation recommended by the standard, therefore, the final conclusion of this study is that all products analyzed are of superior quality.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Fortification of ecological security of beekeeping in the Republic of Moldova(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Life Sciences, Iaşi, 2021) Cebotari, Valentina; Buzu, I.The purpose of this paper was to develop measures to adjust conventional to organic beekeeping, to increase the productivity of bee families and the harvest of entomophilous agricultural crops, for the production of organic beekeeping and agricultural products in the Republic of Moldova, according to EU rules. The scientific researches were carried out during 2011-2019 in the Beekeeping Laboratory of the Institute of Zoology of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. Scientific research has shown that, in order to ensure the compliance of the environment with the requirements of organic beekeeping, it is necessary to test honey flowers, or pollen collected by bees, on the content of the most common and most dangerous pollutants, such as heavy metals (Pb, Cd) and pesticides (Organochlorine insecticides - Fipronil, Spirodiclofen; Organophosphorus insecticides - Azoxystrobin, Carbendazim, Dimethoate, Chlorpyrifos; Neonicotinoid insecticides - Imidacloprid, Thiacloprid, Thiamethoxam, Clotianidin; Pyrethroid insecticides - Tau-fluvalinate, Deltamethrin, Cypermethrin, Pyrethrin; Triazole fungicides - Bitertanol, Fenhexamide, Diphenoconazole, Mepanipyrim, Cyproconazol; Dicarbosimide fungicides - Cyprodininyl; Acaricides - Amitraza; Herbicides - Glyphosate, Sulfosulfurol, Amidosulfuron, Amitrol, Petoxamide, Pendimetalin). The fortification of the power of bee families and their productive capacity for organic beekeeping is ensured by innovative methods of organic feeding in the periods of poor harvesting in nature with nutritional supplements of organic origin. The conversion of traditional beekeeping into organic beekeeping requires the adjustment of the apiary's logistical infrastructure to the requirements of EU rules, according to EC regulations and directives: no. 1881/2006, no. 834/2007, no. 889/2008, no. 834/2009, nr. 271/2010 and no. 392/2013, as well as the Law of the Republic of Moldova no. 115 of 2005 on organic agri-food production and the Technical Regulation “Organic agri-food production and labeling of organic agri-food products”, approved by Government Decision no. 1078 of 2008. Bee families in organic apiaries are complemented by healthy and vigorous queens, raised directly by organic selection methods, based on strengthening immunity and disease resistance, increasing queen prolificacy and the colony's ability to accumulate bee production in the nest. The analysis was performed into a farm at the first and second lactations. The imported dairy cattle (Österreichisches Braunvieh breed) were compared with contemporaries indigenous breed (Bruna of Maramures) calved in the same period. Both breeds were kept in the same conditions and with the same feeding. The first lactation records were analyzed according to the following linear model: Yij =µ + Hi + Cj + eij. The second lactation records were analyzed according to the following linear model: Yijk =µ + Hi + Cj + Jk + eijk. The difference in milk production between Österreichisches Braunvieh and Bruna of Maramures breeds, at first and second lactations, were not statistically significant. The cattle Österreichisches Braunvieh compared Bruna of Maramures breeds achieved higher fat, protein and lactose percentage at the first lactation (4.25% and 3.99%, 3.32% and 3.26%, respectively 4.74% and 4.62%) and at the second lactation (4.16% and 4.03%, 3.40% and 3.26%, respectively 4.99% and 4.82%). In this sense, two groups of birds were established, of which one experimental LE consisting of 20 roosters and a control lot (LM) with 10 heads. At the age of 6 weeks, the birds from LE underwent the operation of removing the testicles (caponisation) by the method of bilateral laparatomy in the last intercostal space. When the research ends (12 weeks of age of the birds, the roosters in the experimental group recorded a mortality of 70%, a total increase in weight gain of 1124.17 g / head / period, in terms of an average daily consumption of 127, 32 g / head / day and a feed conversion index of 3.81 kg nc / kg increase. The roosters in the control group (uncastrated) registred a mortality rate of 50%, a total increase in weight of 1341.5 g / head / period, an average daily food consumption of 127.08 g nc / head / day and a feed conversion index of 3.23 kg nc / kg increase.
