In this context, the objective of the research was to evaluate the incubation index recorded by eggs provided by gray guinea fowl, reared in both extensive and intensive system. A number of features were investigated regarding the clarity of the eggs, the percentage of fertility, the number of eggs with dead embryos, the percentage of hatching. The data regarding the clarity of the eggs show us for the extensive system values between 24.39% (batch 2) and 29.97% (batch 3), and for the intensive system the values were in the range 9.76-14.63 %. Regarding the fertility of the analyzed eggs, it exceeded the threshold of 70% in all batches from the extensive system; for intensive system eggs, fertility was over 85%. The highest embryonic mortality was recorded in batch 1 (24%), and the lowest in batches 4 and 5 (15%). Regarding the hatching of eggs, the results recorded ranged around 65% for the extensive system and 80% for the intensive system. The hatchery percentage shows us for the extensive system values between 43.90% (batch 3) and 51.22% (batch 2). The intensive system was highlighted with much higher values, more precisely batch 4 with a hatching percentage of 73.17%, batch 5 with a percentage of 70.73%, and batch 6 with a value of 70.73% Guinea fowl eggs have a number of very valuable biological properties, so the extensive exploitation of these birds can have great prospects for development.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Studies on the influence of environmental temperatures in laying chicken halls on productive performance(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2020) Usturoi, Marius-GiorgiResearch has focused on how the ambient temperatures ensured during the breeding of laying hens influence their productive performance.. To this end, two batches of birds of equal size (17280 Lohmann Brown hens / batch) were set up in two breeding halls, one of which had no additional thermal insulation (batch A) and a barn with an external heating system (batch B). At the end of the 51 weeks of operation, the birds in group B (thermally insulated hall) had a body weight 0.28% higher, an individual egg production better 1.46% and an average egg intensity higher 1.97% compared to hens accommodated in the hall without additional thermal insulation (batch A). Also in the chickens from batch B (thermally insulated hall) there were lower levels for the rate of exits from the herd (with 0.51%), the average daily consumption of compound feeds (by 0.73%) and the feed conversion index (with 2.23%). In this sense, 30 males from ,,Bălțată cu Negru Românească” and „Brună” breeds were slaughtered, respectively, falling into three weight groups (300-350 kg, 350-400 kg; 400-450 kg), establishing the slaughter yield. and the weight of the main anatomical portions in the carcass. From the obtained data it resulted that, in the Bălțată cu Negru Românească breed, the carcass weight was higher by 2.75-5.11%, hence a higher slaughter yield by 1.90-3.57% than in the breed Brown. Also in the Bălțată cu Negru Românească breed, there were higher weights for the anatomical parts included in specialties (by 0.26-0.46%), in those of superior quality (by 0.11 0.83%) and, respectively, in those of quality I (0.24-0.47%). The study used 100 DOC broiler chickens and reared for 28 days. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications, namely P0 (commercial ration), P1 (commercial ration + 2% probiotics (100% fermented cow milk)), P2 (commercial ration + 2% probiotics. (50% fermented cow milk + 50% fermented soy milk)), and P3 (commercial ration + 2% probiotics (50% fermented cow milk + 25% fermented soy milk + 25% fermented mung bean milk)). The results of statistical analysis showed that the treatment had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on total protein and albumin levels. It was made the fattening in intensive system, using two feeding systems: an uniform system of 92 days (with combined fodders) which assured 15.88% PBD and 89 % UN and a differentiated system with 15 days of accommodation, which assured 12.6%PBD and 91% UN, 62 days of effective fattening which assured 15.88%PBD and 89% UN and 15 days of finishing, which assured 12%PBD and 94% UN. The weight in the end of fattening was bigger at the F1 half-breed of Boer x Carpathian comparatively to the kids of Carpathian breed, and there were no differences significant between the feeding systems. The kids of Carpathian breed had the final weight of 30.736 ± 1.0370 kg (lot 1) and 30.857 ± 0.6760 kg (lot 2), the kids of F1 Boer X Carpathian 34.536 ± 1.0460 kg (lot 3) and 34.100 ± 1.1210 kg (lot 4). It is noticed higher daily increasing rates at the F1 half-breed of Boer x Carpathian comparatively to the increasing rates of the kids of Carpathian breed. The daily gain of the kids Carpathian breed was 140 ± 0.0080 g (lot 1) and 134 ± 0.0100 g (lot 2) and at the F1 half breed of Boer x Carpathian was 154 ± 0.0060 g (lot 3) and 155 ± 0.0080 g (lot 4), not being differences significant between the feeding systems. The results of experimental slaughtering emphasize bigger carcasses and higher output at the F1 half-breed of Boer x Carpathian. The kids of Carpathian breed had carcasses of 14.20 ± 0.9150 kg and 14.05 ± 0.8975 kg, and F1 half-breed kids 16.25 ± 1.8750 kg and 16.48±1.8950 kg, the value of the slaughtering output was of 46.20 ± 2.9620 % and 45.50 ± 2.9510% at the kids of Carpathian breed, and at the F1 kids of Boer x Carpathian 47.10 ± 2.9741% and 48.30 ± 2.9787%. All the obtained data show that the improving effect of the meat production at the kids of Carpathian breed by crossbreeding with Boer breed.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , listelement.badge.access-status Open Access , Study of milk production indices for cattle breeds exploited in private farms in Neamt county(“Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Iaşi, 2020) Nistor Anton, Mariana; Maciuc, VasileIn this paper, we have proceeded to analyze milk production indexes, on standard lactation (305 days) in maturity equivalent (MS), on successive lactations for two breeds of cattle, Black Spotted Romanian Cattle and Holstein, exploited in family farms in Neamț County. For this process, we utilized data from associations accredited to carry out the official control of milk production (COP), the Association of Animal Breeders "Operator I.A" Neamț and the Association of Cattle Breeders from Mureș County, as well as data from the Genealogical Register. In Holstein cows, an average quantity of milk of 6096.49 kg was registered on normal lactation, with 19.44% higher than that obtained in purebred Black Spotted Romanian Cattle but this performance is below the breed average. Comparatively, in the population of Black Spotted Romanian Cattle, the average production was 5104.21 kg / lactation, the phenotypic production in this case being close in value to the real productive potential of the breed. According to some studies, it is possible to achieve good quality semen from bulls by applying methods such the selection of bull presenting good conformation and health, followed by the collection and analysis of their semen, to be insured that this contains enough well fitted spermatozoids. For better success of artificial insemination, it is important to have a good mastery of the technique. The semen should also be protected against any agent of destruction and degeneration of spermatozoa, such as oxidizing processes. Pangalengan is a center for dairy farming that is still commonly found in cases of mastitis. The handling of mastitis cases is done by giving antibiotics. This study describes the detection of resistant antibiotics in E. coli that causes mastitis in milk and the livestock environment including water and cage floors. 192 subclinical mastitis milk samples, 9 water samples, and 9 cage floor swab samples were taken, identification of E. coli by planting on MacConkey agar and Levine-EMB agar, gram staining and biochemical testing of indole test. After that, antibiotic resistance testing is done using the Kirby Bauer method. The results showed that the highest resistance to Ampicillin (100%) in all samples, Sulphamethoxazole-trimethoprim (83%), and Oxytetracycline (66%) in the cage floor samples. This study aimed to determine the antimicrobial activities of Sappan wood extract (SWE) against Haemophilus influenza. Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) of SWE for Haemophilus influenzae at 103 and 105 CFU/mL were assessed by macrodilution method, with four treatment groups including SWE group, a positive control group, a negative control group, and antibiotic’s control group. AAS measured the reduction of free iron concentration in Haemophilus Test Medium Broth (HTMB) after the addition of bacteria and SWE. The data were analyzed descriptively. The result showed that the MIC value for SWE against Haemophilus influenzae at 103 and 105 CFU/mL was 16ppm and the MBC value was 32 ppm. The SWE at 16 ppm and 32 ppm could inhibit 98.64 % and 100 % of the Haemophillus infleunza in 10−3 and 10−5 dilutions, respectively and also the reduction of iron concentration as the effect of SWE to chelate iron. The iron-chelating property of SWE and the absolute dependency of Haemophilus influenzae to iron can be an important mechanism for the antimicrobial activity to Haemophilus influenzae. In the production of compound feeds, each unit operation can contribute to threatening their safety. The paper aims to determine the contamination with Salmonella spp. of the equipment on the technological process of production from a feed mill from Romania. Sampling was done from different points of the production process, depending on the predisposition to a potential contaminant, respectively from mixers, granulators, sieves, mills, bunkers, coolers, as well as from the bunkers of the machines with which the feed is delivered to customers. During 2019 (in March, July, October, and December) 22 samples were taken and analyzed to determine the contamination with Salmonella spp. The results of microbiological analyzes performed in the feed mill under study, showed that all 22 samples were negative. Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are unique proteins that are formed when cells are exposed briefly to temperatures beyond their normal temperature of development. Based on molecular weight heat shock proteins are grouped into families: low molecular weight heat shock proteins, homologous proteins GroES or HSP10 (~ 10 kDa), DnaJ-homologous proteins or HSP40 (~ 40 kDa), GroEL-proteins homologous or HSP60 (~ 60 kDa), homologous proteins DnaK or HSP70 (~ 70 kDa), proteins HptG or HSP90 homologues (~ 90 kDa), and ATP Clp-dependent proteases (HSP100) (Oyeyemi O Ajayi et. The aim of this paper is to follow the results of sows’ cervical inoculation with doses containing 2, 3, 4 and 5 billion mobile sperm/ dose and sows intrauterine inoculated with 2 billion sperm. There were inseminated 256 gilts and 408 sows divided in 8 groups depending on the motile spermatozoa number/ dose and age category. The sows which were cervically inoculated with 3, 4 and 5 billion sperm had a fecundity between 93.33% and 96.38%, while sows inseminated with 2 billion sperm, the fecundity decreased to 85.9%. Forty pigs Topigs hybrid (initial body weight 13.58 ± 0.37 kg) used in the trial for 30 days were assigned into two dietary treatments: control diet (M) and experimental diet (E, with 25% millet that replaces triticale from M diet). The pigs were slaughtered (n=3/group) at 81 ± 3 days (final body weight 32 ± 4.5 kg). The samples were taken from the liver, Longissimus dorsi (LD) and Semitendinosus (ST) muscle and analyzed for: pH, colour and texture profile. The pH value of the liver and texture profile of all the tissue samples from E diet were not statistically different comparing to the M diet. Pigs fed E diet had a significantly increased value of redness a* in the liver (>17%) and in the ST (>45.5%) compared to M group. The liver yellowness b* was significantly higher (>53%) in the E group compared to the M group. For all tissue samples, the shear force was significantly affected in group E compared to the M group. For this purpose, a 93-day experiment was carried out with 6 experimental variants (5 different probiotic concentrations : V 1-1.28x1013 CFU, V2-2.56 x1013 CFU, V3 -3.84x1013 CFU, V4 – 5.12x1013 CFU, V5 -6.4x1013 CFU and V6- control variant, in duplicates). The experiment started with a number of 6000 exemplars of 35-day post hatched larvae (500 specimens/rearing unit) with a mean individual weight (± SD) of 0.35 ± 0.02 g and a total length between 3-5 cm. According to the rearing technology, sorting was carried out throughout the experimental period which led to the division of the experiment into 9 different experimental stages according to feeding protocol. Feeding efficiency, expressed by FCR and protein retention, indicated by PER shows an insignificant increase (p> 0.05) in the V2 variant and an insignificant decrease in the case where the probiotic (V6) was not administered. This was the question leading the research to further investigate three groups of carcasses (one control - CG, and two treatments - T1 and T2) in relation with the single experimental factor – temperature - variations on certain technological flow moments in the slaughterhouse: scalding station (CG:51-53⁰C,T1:53 54⁰C,T2:55-56⁰C); chilling process (CG:1-4⁰C, T1:2-3⁰C; T2:1-2⁰C); sorting- packaging moment (CG<2⁰C; T1:8-10⁰C; T2:6-8⁰C); storage before delivery (CG:0-2⁰C; T1 and T2:0-1⁰C). The biological material comprised 150 ROSS-308 carcasses (50 per group), stored by refrigeration 1 day in slaughterhouse before shipping. Meat pieces weighing 50-100 grams, without skin, were cut around femoral bone from the thighs musculature of each carcass, in order to form homogenous samples per group; they were submitted to analytical laboratory assessment to quantify the main nutritional compounds (water, dry matter, crude ash, total lipids and protein content, nitrogen free extract) as well as gross energy value, using conventional A.O.A.C.-I.S.O. methods in 15 replications per compound. Thus, total dry matter varied between 28.34 g/100 g in CG and 28.81 g/100 g in T2 (P<0.05), while crude ash was found at 1.00g/100 g in CG, at 0.93g/100 g in T1, at 0.95 g/100 g in T2 (P<0.01 for T1, T2 vs. CG). Total lipids content was the most variable feature of thigh meat, thus in CG reached 8.00 g/100g, while in T1 was 3.25% higher (8.26 g/100 g, P<0.001 vs. CG) and in T2 was 4.88% higher (8.39 g/100 g, P<0.001 vs. CG and P<0.05 vs. T1). Total nitrogen matter slightly decreased from 18.78 g/100 g in CG till 18.59 g in T2, but the differences were not big enough to generate reaching of 95% significance threshold. Cytogenetic studies were carried out on a group of 25 sheep Ukrainian Mountain-Carpathian breed. The cultivation of lymphocytes, preparing the cytogenetic samples, classification and registration of chromosome aberrations were held using conventional methods. It was established that the number and structure of the chromosomes of sheep of the Ukrainian Mountain-Carpathian breed corresponds to the norm typical for this species of animals. Chromosomal variability of the studied population includes 19.22% of numerical and structural aberrations. By the number and structure of the chromosome set of the Ukrainian Mountain Carpathian sheep breed do not differ from other breeds of sheep. The work aims to achieve an analysis of implementation and certification of the three quality schemes according to the European legislation, of the product classes included in these systems as well of the interest shown by the producers and authorities of the European Union. Methodologically, the information collected from the "DOOR" database for the period 1996-2019 was analyzed, processed, summarized and prioritized. The results obtained show that during the analyzed period, the producers from the EU countries certified and registered 1424 products, of wich 630 PDO (44.2 %), 731PGI (5.3 % ), and 63 TSG (4.4 %). The first place in the top of the classes of products is held by "Fruits and Vegetables" with 24% of the total. Regarding the interest of the EU countries to implement the quality schemes, we note that the first place is held by Italy (299 products); Romania ranks penultimate (5 products). The main purpose of food processing is its preservation used in order to maintain the integrity of the products and to extend the shelf life improving their quality. In this way, processed food products can meet customers demands from al points of view: nutritional, safe and health and good sensory experience. It is well known that applying only one preservation method at high intensity (temperature), beside the pathogenic microflora, it may destroy some important nutrients (vitamins, proteins). In this paper it is highlighted the advantage of preserving food using combined conventional methods at lower intensities without affecting the integrity of the food product. The Hurdle effect is an illustration of the fact that in food, several factors contribute to microbiological stability, safety and quality. The Hurdle effect has major importance in preserving food since the hurdles control microbiological spoilage and food poisoning. Hurdle technology (also called barrier technology, combined methods, combined process) advocates the deliberate combination of existing preservation techniques in order to establish a series of hurdles that cannot be overcome by the existing microorganisms from the product. These hurdles may be temperature, water activity, pH, additional preservatives, redox potential, ultrahigh pressure, ultrasounds, etc. Being processed food products, obtained by combined methods, salami can remain stable and safe for extended periods of time, being very appreciated by consumers all around the world due to the special taste and high nutritional properties.
